Thank you everyone for assisting with this one. To properly interface the DROID X with Hughes.net, simply enter these settings:
Service Setting: username@hughes.net
Incoming Mail Server: mail.hughes.net
Outgoing Mail Server: SMPT.hughes.net
Incoming Port: 110
Outgoing Port: First, try 25. If that is not successful, try 995.
If these steps are not successful, please feel free to contact us again, so we can dig a little deeper.
Thanks,
Roy _B

- Specifcally, what happens when you try to sync the email to the phone? Are you getting an error? What is it?

This is not one of the companies listed by Motorola on there site. You might want to give your company a call and ask what the set up is for POP and SMTP, since this does sound like a set up problem. If what they tell you is the same as what you entered, I would tell them my problem, hopefully, they can help you.

I have hughes.net mail and could not get it to sync up. I did the logical thing: contacted help desk and was provided the right set up info. it workds real good. kudos to hughes.net tech support. they are the pits at times though. but not this time.
