Droid 2 Global Problems. And LOTS of them.

I've had my Droid 2 Global for almost a year now and it has been great until recently. Now when I type on the keyboard (not by touching the screen), letters double up (For example: If I told "For the time being" it will do "FoFor the time being"). That problem is just a minor one and I can deal with it. However, the next one I absolutely cannot tolerate anymore. The next one consists of me not being able to receive text messages. This past Saturday I was texting my friend when all of a sudden they stopped responding. So I text them (since I already knew what the problem was) and said "If you are receiving these, call me, let it ring twice, then hang up." Less than a minute later, the person calls me, let's it ring twice, and then hangs up. I restarted my phone, I received all 48 text messages that I had received from them trying to get a hold of me. The final major problem is the lack of me being able to hear phone calls. I tried calling a relative yesterday and there was nothing but silence. The person called me back and there was nothing but silence. They could not hear me and I could not hear them. I restart the phone and it works again but it's really concerning me. What if I have an emergency and I need to call an emergency number, my phone won't work. Any suggestions from ANYONE? Please?

For the first issue, you could try the solution

For the other issue, I suggest you could try factory reset.

I have been having literally the EXACTTTTTTTTTT same problems. I got a droid 2 global about 2 months ago I revieved the gingerbread update and 2 days later all of these problems started happening. I gave it a couple of weeks didnt go away so I went to verizon told them the update was bad and they of course said "we havent heard of any problems it must be the phone that has a problem" and they gave me a new free phone through asurian. The new phone had the old system worked great I had no problems then a couple weeks later the gingerbread update popped up I let it install and guess what? The exact same problems started up again this time in the same day. Idk what to do at this point im sick of going into verizon but I am positive it is the update. Soooo frustrating I know how you feel :smileysad:

Oh and I should add as seeing the comment above me...when I went into verizon they did a factory reset and and it helped for about an hour and then it started acting up again and that is why I got the new phone for free. A reset wont help!

Third comment (wow I am scatter brained I apologize) about not recieving texts...this might sound weird but I saved my number as a contact and if I havent received texts for longer than I expect I text myself and if I dont receive it I remove my battery and restart....just a suggestion to be aware if your phone is receiving texts or not!

@ virus490 Thanks for posting. I definitely understand how not receiving text messages and hear phone calls can be a problem. Obviously your phone should perform those basic functions. In regards to the audio, do you have problems with notification sounds or playing music? Are you using a 3^rd party app for text messaging or is this the stock message app? Have you pulled the battery from the phone? Is there any physical or water damage done to the phone? Please answer these questions so I can help you resolve you issues. Thanks.

I haven't had the text problem, but myself, my coworker and a guy a ran into at the pet store today are all having problems with random reboots when trying to access the gallery, opening apps, and various other random normal activites. This only started once the Gingerbread push took place. There is definitely something very buggy with this code!

I used to love my droid 2 global then gingerbread happened. now i hate my phone. gallery barely works. force closes. reboots. not receiving txts. phone doesn't always ring or vibrate on in coming stuff. etc etc etc I can't stand using it now. My wife had this issue and touchscreen problems. she got a droid 3, no problems yet. the guy at the store basically told me my phone was bad but not bad enough and i had 10 days until the 1 year factory warranty expires. SO, I got a big "Oh well, that's too bad for you. Thanks for shopping, come again."

Thanks for ruining my first smartphone experience Verizon/Android/Motorola/Google or whomever is responsible, I now have to pay way too much every month for something that barely works

I agree. This smartphone was great until Gingerbread came along. It would suck to get into a accident or something and not be able to hear emergency services on the other line. All because the firmware wouldn't let me.
