Droid 2 Global in London, 2 bars at most

Currently in London with Droid 2 Global.  I get one or two bars at most, often no service at all.  The phone works with one or two bars, and I have received text messages, but data heavy applications (browser, navigation) have not worked at all.  Help!

Are you using the Vodafone SIM that comes with the phone, or a different one?   The GSM bars on the phone always seem to err on the low side, I have made calls from London with 1 or even 0 bars.  If you are using the Vodafone SIM, do you have data roaming enabled?

Thanks for the reply.  I'm using the SIM that came with the phone.  I *believe* I have data roaming enabled.  I ordered it in advance and dialed *228/2 before I left.   

 

FWIW, I'm also having trouble with data via wifi. So I may have more than one problem.

OK, the Wifi issue does sound like a problem!  Data roaming is a setting on the phone:

Settings>Data manager>Data Delivery

 

Check what is enabled:    Data enabled, Data Roaming and Background Data

 

However, none of this should impact Wifi.
