Droid 2 Update (2.3.3) Verizon 4.5.607

Verizon pushed this upgrade to me and being a newbie had thought that this was a just an update.  At the completion of the upgrade it had done the following:

 

Reset all of my Motorola Phone Widgets to blank

Cleared my "In Case of Emergency" Phone numbers

Deleted all of my folders

Uninstalled systems applications like Text Messaging,Dialer and Contacts but left broken shortcuts on the main home page

Reinstalled applications that I had deleted moved back to Market

I can only imagine how frustrating this must be. I haven't seen this happen before after a software update. Have you tried rebooting the phone by removing the battery for a few seconds? This may restore the phone back to how it was prior to the update.

 

If the reboot doesn't help let us know so we can report the issue.

The same thing happened to me this morning when I upgraded my software... all of my contacts are gone, nay obliterated, there isnt even a contacts app installed anymore. I can't make phone calls because the app for that is gone too, replaced by a broken link. I could care less that my facebook news feed is no longer synced to my home screen, but it would be nice to be able to make some phone calls and possibly even know who's calling me.

I have the Motorola Droid 2 and recently was required to update my OS. This update has proven to negatively impact my phone's performance. Before the update, I could go a couple days without having to charge my phone; however, since the update, my phone charge doesn't even last a day. I cannot be expected to charge my phone continuously throughout the day while I am at work, on the road, etc. I have already run into two occurrences where my wife needed to get hold of me but couldn't because my phone is no longer holding a charge for more that 5 hours (and this is idle; with no usage!). Have other's raised or experienced this issue? Verizon needs to offer a solution as this is unacceptable!!

I understand your concern regarding the battery life on your device after the upgrade to Gingerbread. I have reviewed my references and I am showing that this issue has been raised to our Product Support Team and to Motorola to investigate. We will keep you all posted with any updates, I assure you!

I had all the same issues since this update...I tried everything short of a factory reset, which I had no choice but TO do today.  It seems to be working fine now...except for the fact that I lost everything except for my contacts and pics. Just lovely...

Iv got the same issues, even my internet runs slower, can't watch most videos, battery dies out early, Cant answer half my calls cause the screen freezes, my sd card is constantly doing something according to the screen, and update after update that's already updated!
