Droid 2 update android 2.3

When is the droid 2 going to get android 2.3?  I would like to see an update for this phone.  Anyone have any idea when it will become available?

There have been some leaked versions, but to apply them you would be doing things that violate your terms of service. The fact that there have been leaks implies that they are working on an update, but no timeline has been provided.

This update is 6 months overdue! I thought the Verizon Motorola Droid platform was supposed to be the flagship for Android phones, and my friend has a Sprint LG Android that is faster and better than this...plus he can surf and call at the same time. What is up with Verizon...always behind the times...and what about the iphone 3? We can't get it and have to pay 200 + tax on retail for the 4 when my buddy with AT&T just got an iphone 3G for $49. When my contract is up I will probably switch my 5 lines to AT&T.

Motorola publicly indicated today that we will see an update by Q3 assuming approval from VZW. See http://blogs.computerworld.com/18340/gingerbread_motorola_droid_x_droid_pro_droid_2_droid_2_global for more info. (I'm just the messenger).
