Droid - Alarm Clock failures

Hello, When I first bought my droid during Thanksgiving break its alarm clock was functional and sounded every time according to the schedule I set. Today the alarm did not go off. I ran multiple tests and multiple scenarios and found that it'll only alarm ~30% of the time. Google has been no help with this one, anyone experience this issue?

When you check the box for the alarm time do you get a message at the bottom of the screen saying that "This alarm is set for such and such hours and minutes from now"? Is this in the media dock or just sitting by the bed? Just wondering if the phone is going into sleep mode or something like that. Mine sits in the multimedia dock at night and the screen is set not to go black or lock when charging and/or plugged in.

It says the alarm is set and the icons are displayed in the notification bar and lock screen. I keep the phone by my bed at night and not in a dock.

How do I tell the phone is in sleep mode? I am still able to recieve calls and text messages (and hear the ringers) in the state the phone is in when the alarm refuses to sound.
