Thanks to the community for posting.  @Craddock:  The issues you are having sound like a device issue with the ear piece and the microphone.  I can definitely understand how frustrating this can be.  It happened to my phone too.  The best way to resolve this issue would for you to PM me your name and number and I can see what options I have for you.  Or you can call 800.922.0204 and speak with customer service for assistance with your phone.  I hope this helps.  Thanks.

Dear Craddock,

Sorry to hear about these problems.  It sounds like two separate issues; you stop being able to be heard by others on a call (possibly a microphone issue) and you can't here people when they call you (a earpiece issue).  There are several threads in this forum discussing the mic problem - try searching under "microphone" or "audio" to find some of them.  IMO, there are very few posts about speakers not working; I recently had a similar problem with the earpiece speaker (the little speaker at the top center of the front of the phone) and did not find much in a search.

Maybe others have ideas on the speaker problem.  If you would, please answer the following questions to give the forum members a better idea of what's happening:

1.  Does the speakerphone work even if the earpiece speaker does not?

2. Can you use a headset (Bluetooth or wired) and hear the caller, even though you can't using the earpiece speaker?

3. Does the speaker never work, or only sometimes?

4. Does the speaker cut out during a call, or does it not work even at the start of a call?

Thanks!

Sounds like the dead air issue which was the charge having problems with a switch element and the tellabs ecans update to the towers. The next update is supposed to fix this if the cell towers don't get updated. But, doesn't look like we are getting it anytime soon. Try restarting your phone.

Just out of curiosity, are you using a wired headset when this occurs? Some aren't compatible with this phone or any android phone for that matter.

Had a similar problem after I unplugged my headset to answer a call.

I plugged and unplugged my headset again and it worked fine.

I have this same problem with my Charge.  The only way I have found that corrects it once it starts doing this is to remove the battery and restart.

This phone is going downhill quickly.  I purchased it the end of May 2011.    It freezes up, the screen goes black at random times during use, it becomes psychotic at time when attempting to make an outgoing call and bounces from screen to screen on its own accord.

Shoulda got an IPhone.  This thing cost too much money to be performing like a Palm Pre Plus.  Come on Verizon, seriously......I am tired of purchasing your problem phones.
