Droid Charge loses Bluetooth Connection

My Samsung Droid Charge (SCH I510) keeps losing Bluetooth connection with my car's (HONDA Accord) Hands-Free system.

Aftter the connection is lost (and it could happen during a phone converation) the following could happen:

- the connection comes back by itself

- I can restore connection by forcing the Hands-Free to look for the paired phone

- connection can not be restored at all

I did not have this problem with my previous Verizon phone (not Android) and the same car.

There are other threads here that seems to concur that this is a real problem and even that Samsung is working on a fix.

E-mail that I got from Samsung Tech Support, however, insists that I should take up this issue with my vehicle manufacturer and does not acknowledge any problem on their side.

The Charge has a bluetooth bug that causes connectivity issues with a variety of bluetooth appliances. I'm afraid the only answer is to wait for the Gingerbread 2.3.5 update that will hopefully be out in the next few weeks or return the phone. I think the Gingerbread update will help with bluetooth perormance on the Charge. There is no guaranty until the update is released and you test it for yourself.

Bluetooth performance is much better on the Bionic if you can get your hands on one. Supposedly VZW will be releasing 3 new 4G phones on 11/10/11 as well - Motorola RAZR (announced today with Gingerbread 2.3.5), Samsung Nexus (will be annouced tonight with Ice Cream Sandwich), and a new HTC phone (speculated - can't remeber the name).

I am also having the same issue. I was using my jawbone earpiece with my old droid X and never had an issue. Then I get my Droid Charge and all of a sudden I keep losing my Bluetooth connection with my paired devices, I thought that maybe I had a faulty phone, so I took it back to Verizon and swapped it out for a different Charge. I paired up my jawbone again and the same thing was still happening. I then called jawbone and swapped out my Jawbone Era thinking that it could be a problem with the earpiece, but after getting the new replacement, the same thing is happening. It is definitely a problem with the Droid Charge radios. I really don't know how they can't acknowledge the defect in their product, but I will tell you this much, I will never purchase another Samsung phone again. I just screwed myself outta of over $500 having to buy the phone at full value. What a mistake!!!!
