I just updated my droid incredable to 2.2 froyo, the problem I'm having is that apps start by them self all the time, I go into app manager to check running apps, force stop and they still are running, draing my battery down, I can not turn any apps off. With the old 2.1 system I had advanced task killer and it worked fine, all apps shut down no problem. Apps start all the time no mater what, and I can't turn them off, Give me back 2.1. Does anyone else have this ploblem? or some kind of a solution?

Yes. and I dislike it as much as you do.
I also dislike the loud "Droid!" audio clip that plays when powering on the phone... like when you just landed and are taxing to your gate at the airport. Who designs these things?!?!?!

Lol...I've heard mixed reactions to the whole "Droid" sound. Personally I love it and the red eyeball logo, especially considering the boring old Verizon logo that used to show up.

i like the droid sound too (already had it for my text notification sound), but it is a bit loud and i'm just waiting until the situation arises where i forget that it's going to do that and turn it on during a meeting or somethin....lol. if you set it to vibrate before you turn it off then it won't make the sound when you turn it back on.

Ummm. No one ever actually addressed the original question... how can we prevent apps from starting every couple of minutes and/or get them to permanently turn off. The Droid sound is minor compared to having to walk around with my phone plugged in (yes, I have extension cords all over my house!!) because the battery is always draining. Might as well go back to the old plugged-in land line 😕
I don't want to check any stocks, yet the ubiquitous STOCKS app runs constantly!

Specifically for the stocks app, as long as you go to accounts & sync under settings and disable auto sync for it, it is not really taking any resources.
Hope this helps!
