My Droid Phone isn't receiving text messages from anyone even though i have unlimited text messaging on my plan. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem

Text messaging is an important form of communication so I can certainly understand what an inconvenience it must be not being able to receive your text messages. Are you able them successfully? Are you using the preinstalled application on your device or a 3rd party application? If you’re using a 3rd party application, please remove the application and retest with the preinstalled application on your device. If you haven't already, I also recommend you power cycle your device.
What software build do you have? You can confirm this by going to Settings> About Phone> Software Information> Software Number. If you don’t have build number 4.08.605.2 please make sure you update to the newest software. I’m sure you’ll find this information helpful. Have a great day.

I sprent 8 hours trying to fix this problem, found this on the net and this worked quickly. It will end up saved in your Apps and labeled as hotfix.
(I did not have to change the download settings to allow 3rd party apps as it says) Hope this helps.
If you can't receive texts, type this address into a web browser: (dl3.htc.com/misc/inc8049.apk) After downloading and running the app (be sure you change your Download settings to allow for 3rd party app's), next click Open and you'll get a message saying your texting has been fixed!!
At first nothing happened, but I restarted my phone like another poster mentioned, and about 2 minutes after it re-started and turned on, I got all my backlogged texts and was able to receive all texts again, and thank you God!!

Hallelujah!!! It WORKED!!! No thanks to Verizon, and thanks to you instead! Spent over an hour with 4 verizon techs on the phone the other day, they were all clueless. And the answer is right here on their webpage! Go figure that one! Contract is up soon with them, thank heavens!!! Thank you for this fix!

To those of you I helped, you are welcome. I find this truly mind boggling. I am no phone genius! I just have a hard head and wouldn't quit looking for the answer after my local Verizon rep was of no help.
I had to go back and use that hotfix every few weeks for a few months. Really sad that no one all of us contacted at Verizon could help us out.

Try doing a SIM card pull next time. Just power off your device, take the SIM card out for like 5 minutes, and put it back in. Simple fix. No downloads
There is no SIM card in a DROID Incredible, amethystrose.

The hot fix and the removal of the SIM card did not work for me.
My phone just started doing this. Yesterday and so far today I cannot receive texts. I can send them, but not receive them. I just tried that website, and still nothing. I was hoping I would not have to go to Verizon. From the sound of things, they wont help me anyway.
Verizon would no doubt be very willing to help you - empty your wallet by forcing you to buy a new phone and subscribe to a new data plan.

I haven't been able to receive any texts on my Incredible for 3 days now. The last time this happened it was due to a double "low on space" warning that the phone showed (even though I have tons of memory left). The phone constantly shows one low on space icon; I have to go through all apps every day or two clearing out data and cache as it is, but even that is not helping the texting issue this time. I've tried uninstalling 3rd party app, powering down, etc, and nothing is working. I hate this phone - very frustrating!
I am having the same problem with my Incredible as you are slm3940. Only I have been suffering with the clearing of the caches and powering down for several months now. I really HATE this phone. It will randomly stop recieving text messages and sometimes I wont realize it until someone calls me. Its absolutely ridiculous that I pay so much a month for service for a phone that doesnt work properly. I have had the single "low on space" message for probably 4 or more months but show that I have 649MB free space and only 99MB being used....how is that possible!?
can you help my with my Incredile. I often have double "low on space" messages and show use of only 99MB with 649MB not being utilized. Its ridiculous..I have to clear caches everytime I look at anything on my phone. It is very frustrating. I power down constantly. Right now I am unable to get messages.
Seems many Incredible owners have this same issue and have had it for a long time. Myself included for nearly two weeks now. This is ridiculous! Does anyone know a remedy for this problem and one that will now involve me downloading and backing up so that I will not loose ALL my pics. Geez!!!......... Of course, I have visited the local Verizon store and although she told me I need to do the factory reset, she of course was not going to help me to do the back up of ALL my pics that was necessary prior to the reset. TOTAL FRUSTRATION HERE!
