I don't know why or how to fix this issue but my display keeps coming on for a few seconds then goes off then comes right back on. Can anyone help me with this issue?

Sounds like there is an app waking up the display.
Force-close an app at a time or remove apps to see if this behavior stops.
If that doesn't do it, I'm stumped.

That would happen to me if my signal fell off.

I have provided some information below that may help.
The display on the Incredible could come on for the following reasons:
-Reminder of missed calls, emails, voicemails, text messages, etc.
-A incoming call
-No signal
-Alarms
-An application (like gerio stated)
-Low battery (will notify you at a few different low percentage marks)
I would recommend doing the following:
Step 1 – Ensure all notification have been addressed (no new messages, voicemails, emails, etc.)
Step 2 – Ensure it is charged once the battery meter is in the yellow.
Step 3 – Ensure signal strength is adequate.
Step 3 – Ensure the alarms (if applicable) are set at their proper times.
Step 4 - (Like gerio stated, check any application that is not native to the device, and may have a tie to the device's display.
Step 5 – Complete a soft reset <power the device down><pull the battery><place it back in><power it back on>
Step 6 – Program the device <Dial *228 and press send><Press option 1. Once the recording prompts><Wait 45 seconds for the programming successful notification.>

Mine does this if I put the alarm on and press the little "moon" button. It goes dark as it should when one goes to sleep. Then I'll wake in the middle of the night and it's as bright as can be. Weird. I found that just not using that feature works.
