Droid Screen Freeze & Lock-up

I have had my Droid for better than a year now and have been very happy with it. The last few weeks the screen freezes up for a couple minutes to 15 minutes. The only thing to do is wait it out or pull the battery and re-boot. Even then it is really slow to respond. I don't know if it is an App that is causing the problem or what. I've tried to kill all the Apps and that still does not work. I got the 2.2.2 update yesterday and hoped that was a patch for the problem but the problem still exsists. You can't make or receive calls when it locks up. I wondering if these newer updates have pushed the limits of the available ram on the phone.

I'm really frustrated. I used to really talk-up the droid but now I'm begining to think iphone might be the better choice when it comes time to upgrade in July. I really don't want to have to put up with itunes but maybe I don't have much of a choice.

I have had freeze-ups for a few weeks, every single time I login to access e-mail from Verizon's server.  I haven't been able to find a reason or a solution.

I've had the phone for about a year, and Verizon was never able to get my phone able to send emails thru the email app (thus I've had to use their server to send email).  I found the solution here, that in the setup when it asks for username, you have to actually put in your entire email address.  Finally, I can send email from my phone without using a browser to access Verizon's server.

If the issues outlined on your post started after the installation of a particular application, try removing that application from the phone as this may resolve the issues. Please keep in mind that we now offer other Android devices like the HTC Thunderbolt (4G) that may better fit your wireless needs if you do not want to get the iPhone device (Due to iTunes).

Been a problem for me since 2.2.1 update months ago. Best workaround I've found is the running an alternate launcher app. I use launcher pro. Still has a couple of lock ups a week but compared to the 15 mins a day I was looking @ blank screens is a world better. Best is you can add multiple docks and they seem not to lock up ever. Just the screen icons lock up and you can put whatever programs you like to run on the dock and if/when the screen locks up you can run the program you usually use from the dock... sorry if spelling is a mess but sent from my droid!!!
