Droid Won't Activate

But here's the catch. It's not because of an issue with the phone itself.

I was told by some of the Verizon staff, who's performance at helping me with this situation was terrible at best, that it was an issue with my existing phone number. They told me that everyone one with the area code 570 and a number starting with 479 was having trouble transfering their numbers to new phones. It was a big slap in the face to buy a $600 phone and then being told that I can't use it. I continued to question them about it and they told me it would be fixed within 2 days because it's a "top priority" for them. Well I guess not because it has been a week and my Droid still can't make a call or send or recieve texts.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or are they just trying to lie to me to cover up an issue with the actual phone?

Look, pal, with all do respect, it seems as though you're coming to the wrong forum complaining about the wrong thing. As a guy who uses Android phones, mybest suggestion is to go ahead and return it for a phone that operates until that issue gets fixed.

After a certain time, you can only help yourself. I called customer service and asked, and they told me that they are working on getting it fixed as quickly as possible.

Hope this helps.

It's not the phone that's the problem. It's my actual number. And why should I have to help myself after I forked over the cash for this Droid (paper weight as of right now). I wouldn't have bought a new phone if I knew it wasn't going to work. Also, I've been being told for a week now that it's going to be fixed as soon as possible. Unless they can give me a clear definition of what soon means to them then that tells me nothing. All I can hope for now is that they give me something free for this.

If the phone is nothing but a paperweight, and Verizon doesn't do do door-to-door customer service for for irate customers, I would suggest you do something about it aside from sitting on a chair complaining about it.

Customer service isn't always going to have a clear answer as to why something as complex as technical difficulties woiuld be messing up.

So, like I said, you pretty much have two options: Go to the Verizon Store, go get it replaced/returned with a phone that does work with your number until the Droid does. Or, sit there, tell us the issue when none of us have the power to do anything.

The choice is yours, really.

I can't got there because my number is the prolem! Not the phone! No matter what phone I had it still wouldn't make a difference. I just paid $600 for nothing. I figured that maybe someone else had the same problem I did and they could tell me how it was solved or how long it took.
