Droid X 2 randomly reboots

My three-month old Droid X2 now randomly reboots, sometimes two or three times a day regardless of whether it's on a charger or not.  The software is up to date.  Any ideas, solutions, clues...?

Hi slednecker1,

I feel your pain; I would be frustrated if I experienced the issues outlined in your post. Please note that some issues (including the ones you are experiencing) may result from Software Upgrades. This is usually caused by conflicts and compatibility between previous 3rd party application and the updated Operating System software on your phone.

First troubleshooting step (which will help determine 3rd party application's conflicts) is to run your phone in Safe Mode for a while. Safe Mode temporarily disables all applications that have been installed via the Android Market. Performing this troubleshooting step is necessary to determine whether a 3rd party application is the cause of an Operating System / Application issue.

According to other customers personal experience a Factory Reset has resolved all the issues outlined in your post as this will resolve conflicting errors and will remove any previous software that interfere with your phone's performance. Please keep in mind that performing a factory reset will remove ALL data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications.

The update seems to have screwed up everything.  After that, my phone would crash and restart upon unlocking.  I think it is related to running Skype.  I finally got tired of it and took my phone in after a hard reset and they over-nighted me a brand new phone; I installed the same programs I had and it has already restarted twice on me and I have only had it for a matter of hours.  It is so frustrating that it does this to such a high volume of people and they do not make a new update for it.  It really speaks for their business.

I have the latest update. I never use Skype. Mine randomly reboots and freezes on a daily basis. I hate this phone!

Mine has done the same thing, then crashed, now the 2nd new phone is doing the same thing also.  Verizon need too correct this issue instead of telling us to take off our Apps.  What's the point of having a smart phone if you can't use apps on it! Iphone does not have similar issues that I can see.

My phone does the random reboot daily. Its newest trick is an trying to answer an incoming call and while it is ringing and you try to answer it reboots.
