Greetings. I am new here and am hoping someone can help me with this problem. I am experiencing intermittent operation of the 4 buttons on the front face of my Droid X. An example would be when I use the calendar app and I want to go to month view. I press the menu button but it will not bring up the menu at the bottom so I can switch the view. When I hit the menu button many times eventually the menu will open. This happens on the home screen and with other apps. I used calendar as an example of the behavior. The home button and back buttons are also intermittent but at a lower frequency of occurrence. I have tried removing the battery and restarting but this has had no effect. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you may be having a possible conflicting app or maybe some hardware issue but I really am thinking it may be a app
Are you using Gingerbread or Froyo because Ginger bread has a calendar icon at the top that you can hit and get the option menu for the veiw for calendar... http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/ab289/wildman3064132/Upload%20Ptojects/20110706044544.png

Thanks wildman for your suggestions!
You mentioned this does not happen only with the calendar, but on the home screen as well. It is possible this may be a hardware issue. I would first recommend just pulling out the battery and replacing it to see if this resolves the issue. You can also try booting the phone into safe mode to see if the issue still occurs. Safe mode disables 3rd party applications, so if it is still happening in safe mode, it is probably a hardware issue. If it does not happen in safe mode, one of your applications is causing this issue. To boot your phone into safe mode: Turn the phone off; Turn the phone back on; Once the Motorola logo comes up, press and hold the Menu button; Keep holding until Safe Mode shows at the bottom of the screen.

One thing seemed to have changed on GB safe mode, mine shows "Turn on Wireless" instead of Safe Mode, which is strange because I have wifi on.
