Hi All, I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem and what you did about it. I got a Droid X off of eBay new in the box and never opened about 2 weeks ago and the bottom of my screen is darker then the top and I think when I got it when you went to unlock the phone and slide the lock to the right the bar was red and it would slide smoothly, now it is black and jerks when you slide it over. I don't know if Motorola will back up the warranty because of getting it off of eBay or where to look for a repair service. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks jimboy88

If you didn't buy it from an authorized retailer Motorola will not stand behind the warranty as the warranties are non-transferable.
Any chance you have pictures that you can share of the problem you are having?
The sliding unlock bar is an issue with having to many programs running in the background. Whenever I have this problem I use Advance Task Killer to kill all the non-essential programs running in the background, then when I try it again the slide bar works smoothly.
In all honesty, it sounds like you got a defective unit in regards to the screen. Try changing your background image to a solid color image. If you still notice a difference in the brightness it's likely that someone sold you a phone that had issues to begin with. It's also very common that ebay sellers will sell a phone that is a returned defective unit. In which case there is no chance at all Motorola will fix or replace it.

Hate to say, but you got a bad screen. What you might try to do, but I doubt if it will work since it sounds like a hardware problem and not a software problem is to do a factory reset. As far as warrenty, forget it, you did not purchase it from an authorized dealer. As for repair, you might try going to a place which repairs small electronic items, they may be able to help.

The best bet here is to pursue recourse through Ebay's buyers protection program. Unless of course the listing mentioned that it was a phone with problems.
