Droid X... Calendar won't sync (exchange), Email won't send (Exchange and POP accounts)

Ok, today I received my upgraded device...  moved from the Droid (1) to the Droid X.

For starters, I RECEIVE email fine on all accounts.

Problem 1: cannot send via any account (POP or Exchange emails sit in Outbox) except Gmail.

Problem 2: none of the accounts push email (all require a manual refresh).  This is Gmail, POP accounts, Corporate Sync.

Problem 3: Calendar does not even reflect the Exchange calendar account. (thus, isn't syncing my calendar)

Ok, to eliminate the obvious responses, I have the settings correct and even took the time to make them wrong to see if it would work...  (By settings, I mean the server settings, port settings, email push (fetch) settings, delivery settings, corporate push settings, etc...)

I am six hours into this, and am ready to switch back to my Droid (1).  Each and every one of these items worked fine on my device prior to the upgrade (with the same settings used on each...).  (The only exclusion to that is that the Droid X email application doesn't have a "require sign in" box to check on the outgoing server settings page)

Anyone have any suggestions?

Settings -> Data Manager -> Data Delivery

Background data

Data enable

Might need to be checked.

Also try downloading the manual.

Did you update to 2.2.1? Did you perform a factory reset after the update?

I upgraded last month from a Blackberry and was looking forward to the great aps on the Droid. I kept getting these "not sent" icons and finally figured out that the Droid wasn't able to send any outgoing emails or reply other than a Gmail account. The staff at my local Verizon store tried to help but got stumped. If a Blackberry can handle email replies it would seem that a machine as advanced as the Droid-X would be able to handle that task. From what I have been able to glean the issue was with Google and the Droid platform. I have been told that "they are working on a fix". I was sent and uploaded a later version of software but "no joy". I'm hoping that Verizon will fix this soon as I don't want to use a "patch" software and vector my email through Gmail as was suggested. Love the Droid, great machine but some software guys were sleeping.

If you are having issues sending to your corporate Exchange server then you need to work with your IT department. It sounds like they need to look at your device profile assuming that they allow that device to connect.

I can send/receive corporate Exchange email with no issue. The only issue that I have seen is that push times out and I have to manually refresh to get messages. This can be due to wireless going to sleep or network time outs for Active Stink (sync). Not easy to troubleshoot.

Make sure Data Sync is enabled.

Power Control widget...

WIFI // Bluetooth // GPS // Data Sync // Display (brightness)

Check Data Delivery setting

Settings -> Data Delivery ->

Enable

Background data

Data enabled

Enable Data Roaming only if you are out of your coverage area and don't mind paying roaming charges.

I had to use COMPANION LINK to get my X to sync my calendar - it works great and no need to hook up a USB - it does it via the internet and gmail.

The trick with email I encountered was entering the pop info since i use Yahoo Business. You have to go to help and get the pop settings and input them manually. Then I could receive and send email.

Good luck. I love the phone. My only issue now is getting the replacement phone to work with google navigation. I think it is a bug in the update software. But while I was waiting for the replacement I went back to my Blackberry 8830 world phone and absolutely hated the small screen.

THe Droid X big screen will spoil you rotten...:0)

My email receive issue was fixed when I did not let it try and receive via a Wi-Fi connection.  If I let it receive via the 3G it worked fine.

Hope that helps.

I had this same issue and I have fixed it. I have a Droid X working with Exchange Server 2010.

First off you if you have already created the Exchange partnership you may have noticed that you are able to receive email by manually syncing, but you are not able to send emails. (Outgoing emails will remain in the outbox)

If you have access to the Exchange Server you will see that the partnership for the Droid X will show as a "Motoblur30" device. Other phones such as Nexus One and Samsung Fascinate will show as "Android" devices. I have only encountered this email issue with Motoblur devices. All others work flawlessly.

1. Delete the mobile phone partnership via the Exchange Server Console or via Outlook Web App if you're not a network admin.

2. Remove your exchange account via your phone.

3. Ensure Battery Manager is set to "Performance Mode", enable "Background Data", force stop "Backup Assistant" (this may not be necessary but I did it anyway)

4. Force Stop Gmail. I have noticed that if I sync Gmail, my corporate email stops working. I believe this may be the issue but i can't confirm 100%.

5) Re-set up your corporate email account. Data push should be selected. Do not select sync over wifi.

Email should now push to your device and send instantly. Calendar and Outlook Contacts will also sync,

Note: In my case I do not have any other email accounts set up on my Droid X on the native email manager. It may benefit you to use a 3rd party app such as Maildroid.

I went back and forth with Motorola regarding this whole email sync issue and they claim it was my Server Settings...but my personal Nexus One syncs with no issues...I also have a Samsung Fascinate, an Incredible, an Eris, and a Galaxy tab tapping into my server and they all sync instantly. Another user with a Droid X also had the same problem.

I don't claim to be adverse with the techinal lingo... I'm just a business traveler who wanted a good phone that would get my corporate email on my phone. I've been following the fourms for google, HTC, Motorola, etc and it sounds like it's a much broader problem. I called it out on facebook of all places and got a reply from a mtorola rep. Something along the likes of "aware of the problem, update coming"..... yada yada yada..
