Droid X Dialer not working after Gingerbread Update

I updated my Droid X to gingerbread. However, dialer not working. I dial a number, it shows up and i hit button to place call. It appears to be dialing but then returns to dial screen; no call places. I have to do a battery pull, rebott and then the dialer will let me place a call. Is there any fix to this? I am not using any 3rd party dialer app. Standard Droid X dialer.

Thanks for taking those steps. If the steps Marquia gave you did not work then the next step I would suggest would be to do a master reset. You can follow these steps to complete that process.

Press and hold the Power button then select Power off. (If the device isn't responding to input, remove / replace the battery. )> Press and hold the Home key then press power button to turn on. > Press the Power button while holding Home. > From the Android Recovery screen (exclamation point with an android figure), press Volume Up / Down simultaneously. >Select wipe data / factory reset then press the Power button. > Select Yes -- delete all user data then press the Power button > Reset process to may take approximately 1 minute.> Ensure reboot system now is selected then press the Power button.

It might be worth tyring the more benign Clear Cache before going to the (gulp) Factory reset process. Many people have found that Clearing System Cache has resolved most of the "quirky" issues with the GB upgrade.

Power off
Power On Holding Home Key
When "Andy" with Exlamation Point Shows up Press BOTH Volume keys
Use Volume Keys to navigate to "wipe cache partition" and tap power button to select
Wait for it to finish and select reboot system

Mine was messed up as well, so I trashed it and then reinstalled it on the homepage. That is, I removed it and then put it back on, and it works perfect again. I also had to do this with some other shortcuts I had on the pages.

I would agree, clearing the cache does resolve a lot of quirks in applications. To clarify, to clear the cache you would go to

Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>Clear data/cache/force close. If you need any further assistance, let us know!

DO NOT do a master reset before backing up your contacts, photos, apps, etc. You WILL lose it.

also got the same problem and before the up date i could touch a number in my email and it would auto call that number now after the upgrade it keeps calling the last number i called.even when i hold the number and the drop down list pops up and i hit call this number it still calls the last number and not the current number.

This still doesn't fix the problem. I had to download a new dialer ( TouchPal Dialer), it works. Now I wish I could get rid of the stock dialer that is worthless. PS I am not going to redo my phone and lose all my apps & data. Verizon, do you have a REAL fix yet? If not why not? Appearantly this problem has been going on for months. Clearing cashe and removing battery etc does NOT work.
