Droid X Freezing/taking battery out constantly help!

I've had the Droid X for 8 months, mostly with no problems.  For 2 months now, my phone keeps freezing and the only thing I can do is take out the battery.  This happens at miniumum once a day, usually first thing in the morning after the phone has been idle for several hours.  Any solutions?

I would first start suspecting a faulty APP that has been installed. If it really is somewhat predictable (the freeze), I'd try running in SAFE MODE for a pewriod of time, just to see if it happens in that mode. In SAFE MODE, most of the 3rd party apps will not be loaded.

To get into SAFE MODE:

- power off phone

- press and HOLD the menu button

- continue holding and now power up the phone - keep holding MENU button!

It will eventually come up saying "SAFE MODE" in lower left side.

Run that way for a period of time - avoid launching APPS that you truly do not need for that period of testing. If if doesn't freeze up, you should start uninstalling APPS that you loaded .. maybe 1 at a time until the phone stabilizes; just so you know which one caused it .. (and please, report back to let us all know which APP.)

If it freezes again, I would just bite the bullet and do a full RESET. Ugly, yes .. but probably the only thing left to do.  Others have suggested clearing all CACHE on the phone. I'm not sure where that option is yet.

To get out of SAFE MODE, just power off/on as usual.

Good luck.

thanks!  I'll try it, although I have very few apps as I primarily use my phone for work email.

So far 24 hours and no freezing in safe mode.  The only app I added in the past couple months was a game, "Real Black Jack".  I uninstalled it, hopfeully this works!  Thanks!!!
