Hello,
Can someone please explain to me how the "gallery" works. Why is there a photo roll? What is it's purpose? Why do some pictures go to the "folders" and all other go to "photo roll and all photos?"
I just need some clarification on the gallery please?

The Gallery in general is just the location in which your pictures are stored. The photo roll is where pictures you take on the phone are stored. Pictures from messaging, downloads, & the SD card go into the other folders. It is supposed to help you organize your pictures better. At anytime you want to view all pictures on your phone no matter where they are from just choose the All Photos folder and you can view all of them.

lol ... I had been wondering the same thing .... Honestly, it needs some major improvement ... or just use a different APP for the gallery ... (which I have yet to find.)

To me it seems to be more confusing to have all these folders. For example, what is the "my tag" folder supposed to convey. Plus, I see some of the photos in four of the folders, not in the video folder (which makes sense) I do have a questions about multiple places for a photo. Does each of the photos eat up memory, or does it only eat up memory for one of the photos?

The My Tag can be useful for geotaggers, it makes it easy to pull up shots of locations and send to someone instead of opening photos and then have to open properties to verify the image has the location tagged.

Why would you want photos to show in the video folders? You will have at least two of the same image because of the All Photos folders shows all images and then theres the actual folder the image is contained but they are still only one image, kind of like the universal email box, the emails are not duplicated.
Does each of the photos eat up memory, or does it only eat up memory for one of the photos?
There is only one photo, the others are shortcuts to the image and shouldnt take up any extra space.

Thanks for the explainations. No, I didn't expect to see camera photos in the video files, and I guess that the Tag folder is handy for those people who E-mail their photos. I'm the guy who, when he wants to see or send a picture, go directly to "all photos." . But as you and I have said before, can't please all the people all the time. I still wish that Motorola/Verizon let us have more control of our phone, which we paid fairly good money for. But that's not going to happen.

Sorry about that, I missunderstood your statement, now I get you was saying that they shouldnt show in video folder. Have you tried using the .nomedia text file to hide the extra folders from album? I do this so only my photos and video folders show.

No, but let me give it a shot. Actually, I don't mind all the folders in Gallery, I just ignore most of them except All Photos and Videos. Disappointed, talking about videos. It was claimed that with Froyo, you could use the volume buttons to close in on a subject with the camcorder, like you can with the camera. If this is true, it sure isn't working on my Droid. Would love to close in on a subject with the camcorder.

I have read this also on other post but I have not been able to accomplish any zoom features in the cameras video app and I havent seen anyone else that reported that it works. Camera works fine with zoon but camcorder doesnt seem to have this feature.
