Droid X Text Failed

Is anyone having an issue with their Droid X not sending messages to certain users? I am unable to send a text message to certain contacts on different carriers. Im getting a "text message failed" each time and i can only send a message to these specific people if i forward the message or response IMMEDIATELY after a text is reiceved.   Any Suggestions, I just got a replacment and issue not resolved.

Yes.. i  did get a replacment for texting issue along with other issues with the device. The issue seems to have been caused by the Handcent application. I did a bit of troubleshooting myself with both old and new devices. The application will not allow me to text certain people on multiple carriers (specifically  VZW and T-mobile) . We know now that it is not a device issue or network issue. Once the application was removed the issue resolved itself.

You got a replacement for a texting issue? wow..

 

have you tried to remove them from your contacts and trying their 10 digit number to send the msg?

 

What carrier are they on, can you recv their msg? Can you recv msg from other people?

This solution did not resolve my issue with failed text messages.  I've had the same problem as previous commenters with a few exceptions.  I used to be able to send/reply to certain users and now I am not.  One user is with Straight Talk (which uses VZW networks), the other person is another VZW customer!  I can still send/recv texts from all my other contacts.  I have called Tech Support, done the System Update, updated the PRL several times.... still no luck.  Tech Support had no solution. I have a 2nd line on my account that is not a smartphone (Alltel LG Scoop), and I can text those 2 people with no problems, so it must be an issue with my Droid X.  HELP!!!

I know this post was a few days ago, but have you found a fix yet?

 

If you're only not able to text those few certain people ever, it sounds like they've blocked you. When someone blocks you and you try to text them, you just keep getting a text not sent error.

As the other poster said, it's probably a digit issue. Or it's just an issue with the other carrier, nothing you can do.

Do the numbers listed for the failing recipients actually dial up the Cell phone that has their texting capability.

If you respond to a text and it works then you were using the number that was attached to the incoming text.

Is tha the same number that you have in your contacts file?

booboo2u, are you still having messaging problems?  If so, please turn your device off, then right back on. Send a new text message to yourself to see if you can send a text message out and receive it through our network.

 

If successful, I encourage you to contact the party you are not able to send the message to and request them to contact their carrier to ensure their services are provisioned as they should be.

i also have this issue when i text uscellular customers the only way it always goes through is if i send a picture as well why will a mms go through but not a simple text?

Hello,

 

If you are having trouble sending/receiving SMS/MMS messages, first attempt to send one to yourself.  If your device sends and receives your message, it is processing correctly on our network.  In most cases, when you are not able to send or receive a message to/from a specific movile number, there is either a provisioning problem on the other users end or they have a block in place. For this type of problem, I encourage you to contact the party you are attempting to send/receive messages to/from, and have them reach out to their carrier's technical support department to ensure their line is correctly provisioned.

 

If this is an ongoing issue with multiple contacts, turn off your device and power it right back on.  If this doesn't resolve the problem, and since this type of troubleshooting is difficult to resolve via this forum, I encourage you to contact our Technical Support department directly at 1-800-922-0204, option 3 from an alternate phone.

thanks im almost certain its the other carrier in this case because no issues with any other contacts carriers.

I just wanted to add that I have been experiencing the same issue with some of my contacts.  The ones I couldn't text were ones with a plus in front of their number.  I entered a new number for these contacts and made that number the default and it worked.

 

I think this originates from users that have their phone number in their facebook profile. 

 

Maybe this will be resolved in the future?????  **HINT HINT** :smileyhappy:
