Ordered the Droid X from a Verizon store on August 1st and was told when I called customer service on the 2nd that my shipment date would be August 5th. I called today since I had received no shipment verification and was told that the shipment date has been pushed to the 23rd of August.
I am very much disappointed with the level of service provided by this company. I will never do any business with them again! Had I known or at least been told initially about the delay in shipment instead of being given false shipment dates I would of never purchased this phone. I eagerly await receiving my phone, but I don't expect to receive it anytime soon, but I do expect calling customer service everyday until I receive the item that I have already paid for.
The least they could of done is provided some incentive to Verizon customers for having them wait on receiving PAID orders instead of placing the blame on the manufacture and expecting customers to sit on their hands waiting for an item they have already paid for in full.
As soon as my contract is up with Verizon I intend to cancel my plan with them. Very bad experience! Will never do business with a group that provides false information to thier customers as Verizon!
Cant imagine how upset I am with Verizon!

Notice that I edited yer title...
It's not serving the phone carriers (Apple, AT&T, and now, Moto and Verizon) very well to introduce a phone that, in todays, want-it-now society, EVERYONE has JUST GOTTA HAVE RIGHT FRIGGIN' PHONE RIGHT NOW OR ELSE YOU BURN IN (I'll edit it myself, thank you very much) !!! Shame on them for introducing a hot item. They will learn, no doubt.
I can't make it better (in fact, I can imagine your reaction when I tell you that I ordered mine at 9:30am the day that the phone came out and got it the next day. Oops). But I have been upset as I waited on an iPhone a couple of years ago, so I do know the feeling.
Take a deep breath (as Geri ducks). You'll get the phone, you'll think it's the best thing since sliced bread (watch him be a Vegan!), you'll get aggravated at the low ringtone volume, but you'll still love it and life will go on.
Just like everyone else has.
Really, are you gonna be mad enough in two years to cancel over this? If I was that mad, I'd pay the ET and down with it.
(long sigh)

Actually the problem comes with the great customer service department at Verizon who say one thing when you call them but then say something else when you call them again. It's almost as if they are playing a guessing game with customers they claim to value even though they just see them as numbers.
From a business point of view Verizon could of done a much better job in anticipating the demand for this phone. But I suppose they failed to learn anything from their experience with the Droid Incredible. The reason I am still with Verizon is because they are still offering unlimited data plans, which the iphone does not have. But believe me after being given the run around by customer service who dose not know what to say to their customers regarding their phone orders I'll gladly switch to another phone company. Should of done it sooner!
Once I get my phone (in late AUgust or early September as I was told today) I'm sure I'll be having lovely feelings towards it like others here, but as of now, all I know is that I paid over 200 dollars for an item that no one at Verizon can tell me when I will have it. PERIOD!

How could they have done better to anticipate the demand? In order to get more units ready for sale, they would have pushed the launch date back farther.
The incredible shortage is beyond Verizon's control. The manufacturer has not been able to supply Verizon with the units that they promised due to a shortage of a supplier to HTC. How can Verizon anticipate that? How can Verizon force HTC to honor their commitments?
The customer service can improve, but I think that the ordering systems are slow to say the least. Or you are finding people looking for a paycheck than actually caring about the customer expectations. That is a problem that Verizon needs to address, because if it is not addressed, then Verizon will lose in the long run.
I understand your frustration. Your expectations were not met. You want the second hottest phone that is available on the market today. I get that. But I do not get most of your rant. Not all companies can forcast accurately how popular something is going to be. They employ focus groups to try to guage the response, but sometimes they miss the mark. Companies would like to make sure that they have enough stock for demand, but not to have millions of dollars in stock with no demand. Warehousing items that are not selling takes a lot of money in manufacturing, storage etc.
One more thing. It is very frustrating to pay for something and have to wait a month before it ships. That practice should be stopped and only charged when they have the stock and are ready to fill the order and ship the item. I do agree with you there.

You answered you own question as to how this company could of coordinated with the manufacture in getting the Droid X to their valued customers.
My "rant" is based on the fact that customer service has not been able to give a concrete date because they don't have an honest clue as to when the phone will be ready for shipment. I honestly don't care that they may not take their jobs seriously because of lame wages. All I know they are working for Verizon so they should know basic answers to questions that would be expected to be asked by those who have purchased this device.
Just called up customer service at Verizon yet again and now they are saying they honestly don't know when it will ship! I love it all. What a better way to spend my time than to be calling up some distant customer service department who are running around lost since they have information. Again, PATHETIC EXPERIENCE!!!

It is not the customer service reps fault, they only have whatever information Verizon gives them, if you need to call and complain, call motorola, tell them to make your phone faster, and when they ship it half done, do not complain because that is what you wanted! And if it is such a problem cancel the order and get another phone, it is just that simple.

Blah, Blah, Blah. If Verizon could not manage to coordinate better with Motorola then that says something abut them and nothing about their customers. That's so simple to understand that only someone with half
And believe me mam, I've tried to cancel the order and get my money back but that is a whole ordeal in itself.

Blah, Blah, Blah, wah wah wah...
Honestly, if you are that dissatisfied with VZW on this cancel your order and take your business elsewhere. In my experience people who rant on and on about it just want something for nothing, they feel inconvenienced and want someone to cater to their every whim to make up for it.
Every day that passes the ship date on the website will change. You are getting all bent out of shape because someone on the phone told you a date, then later you saw a different ship date on the website. The error and misinterpretation of information is solely on your own part.

If any of us feel inconvenienced its because we dished out over 200 dollars for this thing and have yet to use it.
In addition, the change in shipment dates was provided to me NOT by some website, but rather by the customer service people at Verizon that notified me of this only after I called them. I stated that earlier. Maybe had you read my previous post explaining that instead of jumping the gun and defending this corporation as if you were its CEO you would of known that.
As to canceling, believe me I have tried, but that is a mission in itself. Again, I stated that in the earlier post too. Again, had you read what others write before you go on your own story telling crusade you would of known that.
In short the error and misrepresentaion of facts information is on you, period.

Call (800) 922-0204 when you speak to an agent tell them you would like to cancel your order. IT'S THAT SIMPLE.
If you are having problems with that, call a friend and ask them to help, because if that is the case, this phone is WAY beyond your skill set.

dsxdroider wrote:After getting aggravated at the low volume speaker problem, it is not clear that everyone gets over it, let alone loves their phone despite this problem. To be sure, Verizon and Motorola tech support have told me that this problem not alone varies from unit to unit, and that it can come and go, but also that it very often gets worse over time.
Here are links that contain many reports from Droid X owners who cannot get over the low volume speaker problem:
From the Mototola Owner's Forum:
https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/32604?start=30&tstart=0
From the Google Code Android Website:

From Verizon wireless community forum:

from Verizon wireless community forum:

and from droidforums:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-x-general-discussions/59913-droid-x-speaker-volume.html
There are many, many more. If you too experience the Droid X low volume speaker problem, please report it both to Verizon and Motorola tech support, and also as a reply to any of the above forum threads, especially the last two threads: if you experience the volume speaker problem, please post a reply of your experiences to one of the last two links posted above.
Who the heck has gotten over it? I'm tolerating it with the understanding that Motorola (not Verizon, Motorola built the thing) will correct the problem with an update (actually, I can hear it ring or feel it vibrate all the time. I'm just aggravated that it's not as loud as the original Droid).
And I did you a favor..I quoted your post to save you the trouble of yet again copying and pasting your previously oft-copied post. You owe me...

I ordered yesterday and was was given an 8/23 ship date, but was told the orders are starting to ship faster.
For those of you waiting, I don't think the date on the website has anything to do with you. From what I understand it's a moving target, each day you wait to order, the ship date for an order on that date obviously move out. From what I've seen a day or two order date difference can mean 1 day, or 15 days of add'l wait.

I ordered in store, and I would really like to know when my **bleep** phone will be shipped. I have been waiting patiently, but I feel like this wait is inevitable and that the money withdrawal out of my account is almost stealing without a tracking order or any info on my purchase.

Excellent point, keep in mind: VZW sold out of it's 300,000 stock of Droid X in less than 24hrs on July 15th. So this is a very sought after phone, and chances are if you order it today that there are about 1/2 a million people in line before you..

I realize that it is REALLY sought after.
I just think its crap that my friend andrew who ordered his on the 1st in the same store I did, received his yesterday. When I have yet to even hear of mine.
They need some form of organizational way for people to get their phones. Unless if they have somehow lost my order. Which would suck. I have been waiting weeks.

I ordered mine on the 2nd of Aug. Called yesterday and they said that I would get it by the 18th. I am all good with the wait because I have a droid. With all the talk about issues with the Droid X here and everywhere else I am just hoping I get a working one.
