Droid X and WMDC (bluetooth) help request ...

Greetings. I'm helping a friend who has a laptop with Windoze 7 Pro 64bit, Office 2010 32bit & Windows Mobile Device Center 64bit installed. It syncs with an old PDA (Dell Axim X30) through USB fine. He uses VZW Droid X so I proceeded to sync it through bluetooth. The laptop installs 2 out of 4 drivers. The missing(?) drivers, visible in Device Manager with yellow question marks, seems to be related to something called Bluetooth Peripheral Device and I'm suspecting that these are the actual Droid X drivers? Where can I get these drivers? Thank you for your help! Rob

The Bluetooth Peripheral driver is the system controller drivers to access communication ports through software access, install driver found here usually resolves this issue....  http://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth/update.php

It has always been my understanding that Windows Mobile Device Center only works with Windows Mobile phones.  You will need another sync program other than WMDC to sync your Android phone.

Oh, then this will be futile effort. Do you know if VZW offer a sync software(?) for Droid X <-> Windoze - mainly Outlook contacts & calendar?

Answering myself but in case someone is reading this - I'm going to try this on my friend's laptop (looks like you need the desktop installed on laptop & a client on the Droid X from AndroidMarket: http://www.fjsoft.at/en/downloads.php ... seems like opensource/donationware. If it works then I'll make sure my friend donates

I am confused whats the confusion, I have used the information I posted to resolve this issue, why are you giving up, did it not work when you installed it?

Read the original post I have been using for years without issues... http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/3621-bluetooth-peripheral-device-driver.html

Wildman,

On the contrary I'm waiting to try the drivers from broadcom to fix one of the two problems. I didn't even know I had another problem until crg79's reply reminded me that WMDC supports only Windows Mobile devices - duh on my part. Since my friend wants to sync Outlook calendar + contacts with Droid X (Android), I dug up the MyPhoneExplorer. So I have the drivers from Broadcom followed by MyPhoneExplorer app. Rob

The post for the driver discusses the WMDC issue as well, I think the issue is covered with the driver issue at http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/3621-bluetooth-peripheral-device-driver-2.html#post341277

Probably I'm missing something as I read all the posts in that thread the second time through and I can't find anything about syncing "outlook calendar & contacts" with the calendar & contacts on Droid X. I do see mention of being able to send/receive files. What am I misunderstanding?

You are jumping from original post, you reported you wanted to fix missing drivers and WMDC, the post covers all your reported concerns...   You do realize you are over thinking the solution, if you get all missing drivers resolved you wont have any issue doing anything you need to do I sync mine by bluetooth all the time..  Your main issue is because you have missing drivers, until you install those the hardware wont work and you wont know what is and isnt working...

Since you havent even installed or tried any of the driver solutions your problem wont get any better/

Understood. I'll get his BT stack fixed with those drivers. I'm glad you said that you are syncing the Droid X with outlook over BT all the time Smiley Happy Rob

As far as official Verizon Wireless software, we do not have any software that we recommend via a cable sync.  The drivers will fail to install when you hook it up to the computer, because when you hook up the phone, it supports USB Mass Storage Mode when you pull down the notification panel and select it.  It was designed to drag/drop files straight from your PC to the SD card using just the general drivers your computer uses for any mass storage device (essentially using your phone as a card reader).

That doesn't mean that what you are trying to do can't be done.  There is a way to install a Plug-in from Google to sync your Outlook Calendar---> Google Calendar ----> Droid X.  That's the only way I know how to sync calendar wirelessly (over data connection, and not Bluetooth). There is also some 3rd party cable sync software out there.  I cannot recommend it because it's 3rd party, but you are welcome to try it out.

Google Calendar Sync With Outlook Link

As far as contacts, you can export the contacts from Outlook into a .CSV file and import that file into Gmail.

Export Contacts in Outlook Then Import Into Gmail Link

Essentially, the way we support Outlook syncing with your phone, is to sync it through Google which pushes it to the phone.

I hope that helps you in some way.
