Thanks for the heads up! Thats great to hear, I thought the extra 250 mAH "or 16% more capacitance" would only make it last 16% longer. I suppose if the cells are a higher quality it will add even more life. How much longer is the phone lasting in general?
That is what I have been telling people to get is the extended battery! I hope they actually listen to me and you.
Where does the extra size go?
Out the back with a different battery door?
thx for the tip, just ordered 2...
btw gerio...this is the online spot for this battery...http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?action=accessoryDetails&archetypeId=12260
Just do a search on verizon's site for MOTDRDXBATX
Regarding the battery doors....on the battery door with included battery it states only use with BH5X battery (regular battery) and only use with BH6X (extended battery) on door with extended battery.
My question is around the metal terminal posts at the inside bottom of the doors....the extended battery door's posts are raised to ensure they touch with the ones on phone (at the bottom of the battery tray). Will this affect anything by using the stock battery door with the exteneded battery???
My stock door doesnt seem to fit. On other note, does the extended battery affect covers/cases. It looks like the Verizon skins have a space for the new door. My store didnt have the color I wanted though.

Strange....my stock door slides over the extended battery just as easily as it did the stock battery. When I purchased the extended battery at the store, I made sure the stock cover would fit by letting the CS person install the new battery with stock door. To their surprise, it fit with no issues at all and they even said they would now buy the extended battery seeing as they can keep the same form factor.
Just ordered mine. Free overnight shippin!
This thread is extremely helpful. I've already ordered the extended battery. Thanks to all who participated.
what cases work with the extended battery and door?
The extended battery comes with a new backplate that is slightly larger than the standard battery cover. The phone with the extended cover will pretty much fit in anything such as the docks and cases, including the stand up leather one. Or, you can just use the standard cover with the extended battery and it is just a tight fit. I like the look and quality of the extended cover. Conservatively, I believe I get about two more hours out of the extended, so I think it is well worth it.
With my regular battery, I was able to go only about four or five hours before the battery dropped to about 20% or 30%. After about three weeks of this, I got the extended life battery. Currently, it's been off the charger for 16 hours and I'm at 40% - and that's with medium/heavy usage (about 50 emails, a brief phone call, about 20 minutes of a game, numerous texts and frequent FB and Twitter checks). As long as I can go all day without needing to charge, I'm happy. I would highly recommend getting the Motorola branded extended life battery. I got mine at Verizon. And please use the cover that comes with it. It adds only about a millimeter of thickness...you don't even notice it.
Regarding cases, some of the 'hard' cases might be too tight and put undue pressure on the battery and screen. Some of the 'gel' type cases would probably fit well, but I don't like how they are sort of sticky. I don't use a case/cover...never have.
gerio wrote:Since there might be new users at this forum, I want to comment on a statement made 2 posts ago. It concerns the use of the standard battery door with the extended battery. This is actually a Bad Idea. The reason is that the standard battery door will press against the larger extended battery, which in turn will put undue pressure on the back of the display screen, which will cause eventual damage and/or failure of the screen. So please, use the door that came with the extended battery. It was made for a good reason. So now we have a dilemma. Most tight-fitting phone cases will not properly fit the phone with the extended battery door. If they do, they will exert the same harmful pressure on the screen. I've tried loose-fitting cases, a couple of tight cases that I actually cut the back out of to better fit.For the time being, I've just given up on cases and I am very careful with my phone, just keeping it in my pocket for now. I gotta do something soon, though.Geri O
I use the side-opening belt pouch, so I imagine a thicker battery won't affect it at all unless the battery makes the phone thicker than the camera bulge, which....imagine the charge cycle of that battery!!!!
at any rate, I have heard that Otterbox's top-level hard case for the DroidX has enough space to accomodate the larger battery and cover. Since I'm planning on buying each next week, I'll come back and report on what I find out.
Thank you for your attention.
Maybe I'm the exception to the rule but my extended battery is actually lasting less time than my origional battery!
More later, headed to Church.

Unless (1) you changed your usage habits with some power hungry apps or heavy use or (2) the battery is defective this should not happen. If the former it's your problem. If the latter take the battery back to Verizon for a replacement. Your extended battery is genuine Motorola/Verizon, correct? If it's a third party one or a knock-off, then all bets are off.
The extended battery is a great boon to a full day of moderate/semi-heavy use without a midday charge. The definition of "moderate/semi-heavy use" is left up to the reader.
Genuine Battery bought at a corporate Verizon store.
Old Battery is a BH5X and new Battery is a BH6X.
I haven't changed a thing. I blew it off the first day because the battery is new.
Pulled the phone off the wall charger this AM at 7:30 and since it's Sunday I stayed on the couch most of the day. I did some TXTing and made one phone call. It's now 9:00 and I have 15% left.
There is an aftermarket version of the Droid X battery rated at 2300mah for $29.95 online at batteries4less.com...free shipping too! So much happier with the battery life.
Has any one tried using the extended battery and cover with the otter box cover that has the holster? I have one with the stock battery and would like to upgrade to extended battery but do not want to spend the money if it is not going to work with my case.
Yes, I also have the case but I got the more expensive of the otto cases and it fits okay. Best case I have ever used so far.
ok good I have the more exspecive one as well and was told by some one that worked in the Verizon store that it would not work. with the extended battery and cover.
Has anyone tried the PowerSkin??? It is a silicone case with a battery build in. The case then attaches to your phone and so you have two batteries. I have had mine about 2 days. I'm on the fence about it. It makes your phone huge and I think I should have just went with the extended battery.
