I have had the same issue, but it's been consistent with my other phones, so I'm pretty sure it is because of the Signal in my area. It's entirely possible that you might be in an overlapping coverage area between towers and your phone is jumping towers back and forth. Once upon a time I found a map on Google that showed VZW tower locations, I know if you call tech support they will tell you they don't give out this information though.
Also another thing worth checking out is your battery setting. If you are set on anything but performance mode, your phone will drop 3G signal at certain intervals in order to save battery power.

Hello Keegan1. I have read your post and understand your concern with the signal on your device. You will want to perform a soft reset on your device then once the phone is powered back on, you will want to dial *228 press send and select option 1 to re-program your device. This should fix the signal issue that you are experiencing.

Pull your battery. Let me give you a little hint though, I do *228 once a month as recommended by VZW Techs, it's never resolved this.
