Droid X turning back on

Hi,

I have been dealing with my droid x turning back on by itself for about a month now.  So, I went to my local v store to see if they could figure out what was wrong with it.  The guy checked out my backup assistant and see that it was scheduled to do a backup scan at like 12 am.  Well, he changed the time for it to do that scan earlier in the day when I am up and the phone is on.  Now, it worked for about two days and went right back to turning itself on after I have turned it off.  So I changed the time again thinking that would help again and it did not. No matter when I turn the phone off at night it is going to come back on.  I sick and tired of this happening. Can anyone help me out with what is going on with my phone. FYI. this is a referbished phone if that helps with finding out what is wrong with this crazy phone.  Thank you for any help

This is an issue that's popped up with the newest update (Gingerbread) for the DX. Do a search on this forum and you'll find plenty of posts about it.

You'll find that if you turn it off a second time, it will stay off until you want to turn it on. That, so far, is the only solution for those who have this issue.

Having the same issue with a new phone.  Really plays havoc with the battery life (think it's OK only to find the phone is dead because it turned itself back on).

An the Owners of the T-bolt better look for it too come there way as there to get gingerbread very soon an it could be in that Os Build as Well. B33

Too bad this issue isn't really "solved".

The way I resolved ours... I went to

  1. SETTINGS
  2. BATTERY & DATA MANAGER
  3. BATTERY MODE
  4. Change it to PERFORMANCE
  5. Go back to settings
  6. WIRELESS & NETWORKS
  7. Turn off WIFI (doesn't appear to be necessary on all phones)
  8. Then shut the phone down.

We have 7 Droid X's here at the office, all with system version 4.5.605.MB810.Veriszon.en.US and android 2.3.3 and this is what worked for us.
