Droid X vs Droid 2 (R2D2)

I've had a Droid X for about five months now, and love it. However, since I had an upgrade coming, I thought that I would try the R2D2 version of the Droid 2 as a second line. Gee! I love this one too. There are noticeable differences, but not the type of differences that are negative. For example, I can wake up my Droid X by tapping on the home key as well as the power key. On the Droid 2, only the power key will wake it up. Talking about the power key, the placements are different, and if my mind is on something else, I find myself trying the center of the top of the Droid 2. Neither of these differences are bad. Screen sizes are obviously different as is the camera pixels, but the differences are not, at least to me, that noticeable. As far as performance, they are equal. Actually, I believe that the Droid 2 is a bit faster in downloading. To sum up, I really enjoy using both cell phones, and find that any differences between them are not negative. How do I advise anyone asking me which one to get? That will be a tough one. Screen size, camera pixel?

If you are looking for an Android device with a Hard Keyboard you would want to go with the Droid 2.   Both devices are very similar, the Droid 2 R2D2 has a Stars theme, so if you like Star Wars you would go with it.  The Droid 2 is a bit more for the serious business user, were as the Droid X is more on the entertainment side.  Both are great phones.

The D2 also wakes up if you press the volume or camera button.

I don't see why it matters though, a button is a button.

I would disagree with Noah in that the Droid X is for entertainment. True, there are a lot of entertainment apps to play with, however, you can do corporate mail on it, I have installed several business related apps on it, and because it is so much faster than my laptop, I find myself using it as a pocket PC. The Droid 2 (R2D2 version) I find myself using it more for play than for pay. Both smartphones are excellant and I can not know either one, I love them both.
