I have the Motorola Droid & stopped in at Verizon just to browse & saw the Droid X. This phone looks fabulous & now I'm wondering if I should use my daughter's upgrade to get the Droid X. I'm interested in hearing from others who already have the Droid X & what their thoughts are. Is the Droid X a better phone?

Hardware wise there is no comparison between the X and the Droid. After all it's been almost a year.
Of course, you do lose the HW keyboard. Aside from that, I would definitely switch if I could (and I was in your shoes).

I'm going to go back to Verizon tomorrow & really take some time to play around with the Droid X before I make a decision about switching phones.

I got my X on Friday. I absolutely love it and would not even hesitate doing it again. There was NO WAY I could have waited until next year to upgrade.
I upgraded from a BlackBerry Storm (Storm 1) and what a HUGE difference there is between the two.
The only thing I can see that will bother me is the calendar. I used CrackBerry to synch my calendar in my MacBook Pro and the BB Storm. I loved the calendar and used it constantly. Hopefully there will be someone out there that will develop a calendar similar to the Storm.
And hopefully I will find a way to get my music off my Mac and into my X.

Do you think that the Droid X is a better phone than the Incredible?

The Droid 2 is going to be pretty much the same phone in a smaller package. The only real differance is the camera 5MP vs. 8 MP and no HD recording capabilities. However, ithe 2 will have the same camera quality in a few months thanks to a firmware update that will increase the MP's and HD vid. The other thing is memory. The X has an 8 GB internal memory and comes with a 16 GB card. I believe the Droid 2 comes with a 2 GB card.

I heard the only difference with the Droid 2 will be the slider keypad. And I believe you can update the software with the droid x so if you like only the touchscreen like me then the 2 may not be for you.

Yes, ships with 720p video recording, has 3 microphones, includes a 16GB memory card, has a 4.3in screen, Gorilla Glass, HDMI output, and a faster processor.

Hi,
I was in the same shoes. I got the droid X after I upgraded my line from the Storm. I have a Macbook (Not the pro), so what I did was use the bluetooth function on both, and was able to transfer some of my music files. I transfer 9 out of 12 yesterday, and the 9 showed up on the music app of the X. However there were 3 that for whatever reason didn't come up. I still have to figure out how to move the file to the music app, but at leas I got some to my Droid X. just a thought.... hope this helps.

I just switched to a Droid X from a BlackBerry device. However, I am ecstatic to be freed from "the tether of the synch." Using your new Google account, you can use the Google calendar. Then making any update to your calendar on either your MacBook Pro or on your handheld will automatically update the other. NO MORE SYNCH!! You'll love it.

Thanks for that helpful information. I was wondering how I can pull all my mac calendar items to the droid. I have one queston though. What do I have to do to my google calendar to make it see all my apple calendar items? Any information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You can keep checking back for more reviews to come in.
Secondly yes I do think the Droid X is a better device. I got this from a yahoo article:
" Droid X---->Strengths: At 5 inches long and 2.6 inches wide, the Droid X has a 4.4-inch display that would suit users who want readability. "It's a handful, but a manageable one," Gikas said in his review. Gikas also likes the device's keyboard, which has a "Swype" feature that makes its touch-screen keyboard easy to use. The time-saving tool allows users to slide their fingers over the keyboard, rather than lifting them, when typing a word — and yet still avoid typos.
If you're looking for a phone with a big screen, great search tools and on a reliable network, get the Droid X," said Paul Eng, who also reviewed the phone for Consumer Reports."

I had 2 incredible's on my account and I changed mine to a droid x . My wife still using the incredible and she loves it. I loved mine as well but I wanted the big screen. I like the camera on the incredible. Better Pictures and video from what I could tell. the screen was alot better on the incredible but just smaller. But the colors and how smooth it looked made it so much better. Speed wise the incredible was instant when you push on an app or what ever. The droid x has a lag at time when you click on an app. but battery life is better on the x. the size of screen is better for me due to size. But other than that the incredible is hard to beat. just my 2 cents.

DO IT!!! DO IT!!! DO IT!!! The phone is everything you want and more. At least until the newest one comes out in 3 months.. LOL
The screen is amazing, the camera take awesome pics and video. Great signal, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi hotspot. I could keep going but you'll see. Just go to the VZW store and have them give you a tour of the phone.
