I've had a Droid X2 since early July and haven't had any problems till now. Ive been using Handcent for my text messaging but started having problems this morning. Every time I type a word and hit the space bar, the keyboard disappears...I open the keyboard back up, type the next word and spacebar, and it disappears again.
My sister had problems with her X2 yesterday and went to the store. A Verizon employee said that Handcent is having issues now on the X2 and to uninstall it. That worked for her. So now Ive uninstalled Handcent and gone back to the basic messenger that came on the phone but I am still having the same problem! Anyone else having this issue or have a solution?

Try pressing the Menu key for a few seconds should bring it back, sounds like you may have keyboard in what I can auto hide mode, after that you should be good.

I had the same problem with my Droid X, i would try to type a text message, an email, etc; and I would either lose the keyboard or i could not see the actual text as I typed. Called VZ tech support and got hold of a very knowledgeable support person. Here is the solution that worked for me:
Go to Settings >>> Applications >>>>>Manage Applications>>>>ALL>>>>Battery & Data Manager>>>>
You should have a screen at this point that shows STORAGE, underneath should be a lil radio button that says CLEAR DATA.
Hit that puppy and your problem should be resolved.
I asked him if I would have to do this all the time, he said no, but if the problem returned, this is the solution. IT is very similar to dumping your browsers cache when it gets full.
I hope this helps, Good Luck~
