Droid X2 "droid" sound on screen wakeup

Every time I have my sound on and I wake it up ie: press the power button once, my device makes the "droid" sound. While this isn't bad if I'm receiving an email but EVERY time I want to look at my phone. Sometimes it will even sound like "droi..droid...droi...droid...droid" and do it a couple of times. Now even when I'm on silent or the screen times out with sound on it will do it once in a while and this is unacceptable. Silent mode means silence.

My questions are:
1. Does anyone else have this problem?
2. How do I get rid of it?!

This is my 3rd phone in 2 weeks. I went through 2 Droid X's and then they "Upgraded" me to the Droid X2. While it doesn't have the screen dieing or overheating problems, the whole UI is much choppier and just worse in general. I thought software wise they would have had the kinks worked out considering it is basically the same phone.

I had to fight them to get the Droid X2 when they kept insisting that the Droid 2 was the SAME EXACT phone which I know it isn't. Then they promised to send out the Droid X2 and only sent out the Droid X. Also they offered me a Fascinate which has more problems than I can count because my sister had one and just got the iPhone.

Just to throw in my other problem even though it doesn't bother me as much. I know the screen is suppose to have better color replication but the gamma is turned up WAY to high and I cannot change it. This means that normal icon style images and games look better on the display so when you see it in the store you are all like "WOW that is a nice screen" but some picture (Some are from my old phone so I know it is legit) come out so distorted you look like you have some form of skin cancer. Even on a simple website like walmart.com the text looks extremely pixelated so this is infact NOT a better screen although resolution wise it is.

Hello nhfootball2k6!

Thanks to the community for the responses!

I researched information regarding this unique concern and did not find other reports.  Please perform a factory reset on the device by going into "Settings>Privacy>Factory Data Reset>Reset Phone>Erase Everything>follow on-screen instructions once the phone reboots.

Thank you!

Settings - Sounds - Disable Screen Lock Sounds.

I already have this disabled

Also, it isn't when I lock/unlock the screen. It is when I wake it up by pressing the power button and when it times out after the 15 seconds that I set it to.

The DROID sound upon a Power up is caused by the SD Card being "mounted" .. that sounds to me like what you're noticing.

Settings / Sound  Settings / SD Card Notifications    .... turn that off.

What about Menu - Settings - Sound - Silent Mode?

Pressing the power button to put it to sleep is essentially "locking" the phone.... That's why I suggested that. It sounds like Cody21's suggestion should work, although I don't know why it's playing when you wake the screen up... It should be only for powering on the device. Have you tried taking your SD card out for a while and see if the sound still persists?
