I love the phone except for the call quality. Has anyone else noticed this problem when phone is dialing or during conversation? It almost sounds like the ear speaker is blown out.

Ps wife has the same phone with same problem.
On my phone, it sounds to me a little warbly or choppy. Not enough to be unusable, but enough for me to find it jarring in comparison to other smartphones I have. (I do mobile development; I have Far Too Many smartphones on my desk.)
However, my friends who tried out my phone didn't notice anything wrong, so perhaps I'm just being oversensitive.
Uncheck the "Hearing Aid" setting in the phone settings.
Actually, fwiw, in my case the issue was the Conversation Privacy setting. Turning that off definitely improved the audio quality.
Yeah I had to turn off the conversation privacy setting also. Sounds great now.
I haven't a problem at all, including the speakerphone, which is crystal clear.
Do you drop a lot of calls? I have people on the other side who can't hear me and then I also drop a ton of calls in areas that I normally blow right through with no problem at all.
Call quality has been excellent for me. Way better than my old Treo 700p. Have you updated the roaming by using *228 option 2? It may help you latch into more cell towers.
i have that problem with my droid eris. i went to my verizon store and told them but of course they couldnt hear it so couldnt help me. im going to try some of the suggestions on here.
I went to the Verizon store today and they uploaded some patch using that *22 thing. Tomorrow I will put it to the test but I am hopeful.
*228 didn't help my call issues. And I have clicking during calls as if someone is coming onto the line almost.
Ive had my Droid since the 6th.. I am having more and more complaints from my callers. Just about every one of them say I sound like I am in a tunnel.. .. ..I have done the fixes that are stated here.. disabling the privacy and hearing aid compatibility.etc.. nothing.
I called to talk to tech support.. and what I was told was... that this phone is not really for calls that it is primarily a pc type phone. If I am needing a phone then I will need to look at something other than a DROID..
WHAT???? EXCUSE ME??/ ..
So.. If I want a phone that is a phone.. I am not to expect the DROID to do the job.?
I left that conversation rather emtpy..
I was and still am waiting for the Omnia 2... I could hold out no longer and decided to cross lines and get the DROID..
Expecting only the best in what is out there... extremely disapointed..

I need a phone that I can CLEARLY read the texting.. .. I can increase font and screen size in web issues but NOT for Texting..
I have downloaded Popup.. but I still cannot increase the size of my texting ability.
I will await Black Friday.. I have till the 6rh of next month to see anything come out.
Cant they make a phone that is phone first then toy second?
I dont wish to do blackberry...(which of course is what I was suggested by that tech to get) I need a phone that has a large enough screen to be able to see... and ability to increase fonts so i can read what the heck I am typing.. augh..

Hey,today I have got the same type of "support" info from online customer support. "Don't like the phone quality? Get a Storm2." That bothers me.
What about the fact that the "phone" has no Bluetooth activated speed dial or that there is no repeated notification to alert you that you missed a call or voice message! It alerts once and if you miss it there is only the little green lite which you can't see while the phone is in your belt holder! Even the cheapest phones all have both these features. I've already received several tickets for dialing my phone manually so I am seriously considering returning my Droid! It's a neat toy but not much of a phone.. Motorola really dropped the ball on this one in my opinion. I also hate that I have to hit the power button and then unlock the phone every time I want to use it.
The phone is great except for the call quality. I can hear others fine but they can't hear me at all. I am going to have to go back to the Verizon Store-the Dec. 11 patch is past the day the phone can be returned.
Does not being able to have others hear you count as a defect that will allow the phone to be exchanged after Dec. 11 if the patch doesn't work?
If Dec 11th is past the 30 days of initial purchase.. then it will be just be a defective exchange.
If you are wishing to exchange the phone for some other model.. not the DROID.. you are stuck.. unless you have 3 defective within a 90 day period. . that will be the only other way to get a different phone other than the DROID.
If you are still within the 30 day period.. you are lucky and can see if the update will take care of the problem..
Where many of us run into the problem is that the DEC 11th date is past our 30 day period. So we have to make a decision and see.. do we hang on to it and hope it is corrected.? or do we return the phone and get something else.
Other problem at least I face. is... if i simply take my phone in and return it as defective... they will count that as my 30 day return. I would be stuck with the phone. and if I still have these problems.. grrr I will have a phone I am not happy with.
I personally am going to wait as long as possible to see what is said concerning these problems.. and who knows.. maybe I will be lucky and the Omnia 2 will actually get released withing my time ... if not Omnia2 than maybe the passion/ or something else that has a large display. .. that is and acts like a phone first.. ..
