Droid dropping from 3G to 1X

Anyone having an issue with 3G reception dropping to 1X?  My Moto Droid's reception drops to 1X in places where my 2.5 year old BB 8830 and my wife's BB 8530 never did or does.

Very frustrating.

I noticed that since the last PRL update it has been doing that.

By the way has anyone else noticed that PRL updates are coming twice as often as they used to.

I am having the following issues with my Droid X2:

3G Connectivity:

3G is constantly dropping to 1X and switching back.  The connection speeds are unacceptable.  I don't know if it is the phone or the service.  It does not appear to be specific to a geographical area.   The three areas I am stationary are in Salinas, CA; Aptos, CA and Santa Cruz, CA.

W-Fi Connectivity:

I am constantly dropping Wi-Fi connection even when I am just a few feet from the router.  It will drop the Wi-Fi connection and revert to 3G and 1X.

I took the following troubleshooting steps:

(1) Toggling Airplane mode

(2) Battery pull

(3) Dialing *288 - reactivating the phone

(4) Driving to a different location

(5) Uninstalling unnecessary apps

Have any of you been able to resolve these issues.  Does Verizon have any suggestions.   I am really getting irritated by these issues.

Thanks for letting us know about your personal experience with the Droid X2, SilviaSystems. You bring up great point; we need to determine if it is the phone or the network.
If you are all of a sudden experiencing the issues in multiple areas, then it is more than likely an issue with the phone.
You have done quite a bit a troubleshooting yourself, so thank you for that. Have you done a hard reset on the phone yet?

I just spent close to an hour and a half with tech support with no resolution. My LG Ally keeps dropping from 3G to 1x whenever I go online with it - very annoying. We reset the phone and nothing helped. I had a similar issue August of 2011 with the same phone, and it mysteriously resolved after tech support's tries failed.

Now am being told that it must be my ohone's radio signal. I find that hard to believe since I had same issue and it went away before.

Hello Tink117!

Being able to access data consistently is absolutley important. I'm truly sorry that you've been having this issue on and off for so long.

Although the issue mysteriously disappeared it may be something internal that was moved, went back and moved again. Electronic devices tend to do so!

If I may ask, has your phone had any physical or liquid damage? Have you had it for more than 1 year? Do you have extended warranty?

My goal is to ensure you have a working phone!  Keep me posted.

Thanks,
