Droid lost cell service ONLY at 9:37 pm Eastern...And reset date/time numerous times

I'll try to keep to the facts, I've troubleshooted as much as I could! Any insight would be GREAT! :smileyhappy:

Last night, my last text received was at 9:31 pm Eastern time. For whatever reason, I lost cell reception, wireless is working fine. Thought it was just the weather. I turned it off and back on, as sometimes it seems to get "clogged", and then I get flooded with messages. Well, it turned on OK, still no service, but a minute later the phone reset itself to 4 hours in the future.

I went to bed. Stayed like that all night. Woke up, rebooted again. Same thing happened. Still no service. TIme reset. However, not it was reset to the year 2014, right date though. Wrong time, 1.5 hours EARLIER. So. THen it updated to 9:37 p.m. Eastern last night, when I believe the entire episode began. This is crazy!

SO I removed the battery, rebooted AGAIN, and it went to the right time, then 4 hours in the future, and I finally went in and manually chanaged the date/time settings instead of relying upon the network configuration. As it wasn't working obviously. So since then, it's stayed the correct date/time, but I still have no cell service?

Again, the wireless is fine, and I DO have an active phone number, I called it to be sure. Service was not shut off. Just no clue as to why I would have no cell signal. There were no power surges or anything out of the ordinary last night either, so I'm kind of clueless.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! And if it happens to someone else I know I can pass the advice along! Thanks!

I just removed my SD card and powered it back up, reset to 12/31/1969 @ 7 pm. Put SD Card back in, and while I turned off the phone it was 4:26 a.m.....somewhere. Powered it back on again with the SD card, it's still 7 pm on 12/31/69. I can't even do *228 because I'm not able to get any type of signal. Thanks.

Hello LovebugKZ,

Thank you for posting to our forums. First, I would like to ask which Droid do you have? I would like to provide you a solution to this issue you are experiencing but need to start off with the type phone you have.

Please advise, if this issue has been resolved or reply back with the type of phone you have.

Thank you,

Hi Lena, thanks for your response. On August 8th at about 9:37 pm "someone" (there is quite a bit of speculation as to whom) cut Verizon fiber optic cables in Deerfield, New York, resulting in the loss of landline service and cell phone service (not limited to Verizon, btw) for thousands of people, to the extent that not even 911 could be reached. A criminal investigation is taking place still. It took almost 43 hours for service to be restored, and that's what happened! Thanks for your help!!! All is good!
