After doing extensive research for a phone that would meet my needs I purchased a droid 2 in December. I specifically made sure I was able to use outside the us knowing that I travel to Cancun Mexico and Montego Bay Jamaica. When I received the phone I called to activate the international dialing. I dialed *228 before leaving to update the roaming capabilities. I was told by the Verizon rep all was set and ready for use. When I arrived in Mexico I had no service I did receive a text telling me I had not enabled calling and to call a 908 number to get help. I was not able to make any calls on the phone for assistance or receive or send text. After arriving and leaving for my next trip a week later to Jamaica I contacted Verizon again and this time the rep I was speaking with was trying to find the sim card I the Droid's 2 which does not exist. After I was on the phone for 45 min with him he assured me that I would have service and everything was activated. Once again same thing happened. No service, I did incur a large data roaming fee that I was never told to turn off if not using data on the 1st trip but on the second I was told how to turn off. Now I do know Verizon has service in those areas due to someone else's phone with Verizon service was working. Does this droid 2 work out of country is it that my phone just did not get activated properly I am traveling again and need to have communication with the us or was Verizon feeding me a bunch of crap to make the sale on the phone. What should I do to get the international calling to work.

Sounds like you meant to get the Droid 2 Global, but got the regular Droid 2 instead

Thanks for the information everyone. That's correct, the Motorola DROID 2 A955 is not a global phone and our Motorola Droid 2 Global A956 is our phone that is used to travel internationally.
You can click the link below to view a list of countries we allow service in internationally and what is required to use your phone in that particular country.
