Droid screen problems

My droid seems to have a couple of problems.  One is, it's slowing down when changing screens.  When I push the Home icon, it takes longer to bring up all the icons than it used to.  Sometimes it flickers, just a little.  And often when I touch  the screen, nothing happens.  I have to repeat it, sometimes a few times.  Is this a common problem with the Droid?

I would look to see how much internal memory you have left. Then clear the cache out of your applications. Internet and Market are some of the usual suspects.

Hello casusan,

The Droid is one of the pioneers that started the Android Revolution. Thanks to the creative design and functionality of the original Droid, there have been multiple Droid devices created to carry on the torch of the Android family. As most mechanical devices available to consumers, phones have a tendency to become sluggish over time. This can be due to a variety of reasons, one of which is low memory as Ann154 stated. Below are some steps to assist with sluggish performance on the your device.

  • Verify that the software is up to date on the device.
    • Menu > Settings > About Phone > System Updates
  • Free up device memory on the phone.
    • Erase any old or unused apps.
    • Clear the cache, history, and cookies on the web browser.
    • Clear data on commonly used apps.
      • Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Select app > Clear Data or Clear Cache.
  • Move music, videos, and pictures to the memory card.
  • Purchase a larger capacity memory card.
  • Perform a factory reset on the device. (See link below)

Prior to completing the factory reset, it's recommended to backup all of your contacts and calendar entries. Backup Assistant is an excellent Verizon Wireless app that will store your contacts wirelessly onto the My Verizon website. Your Gmail account also have the ability to store contacts and calendar entries for archival. Once you have completed the factory reset, the device needs to be reactivated. There is a tutorial on the device that will walk you through the process. Once the device is setup, please test call voice and data service prior to adding 3rd party accounts and apps like Facebook, Twitter, etc. If you are still having issue with the response time on the device then please reply to this message for additional assistance.

Thank you...
