Droid2 Global System Update 4.5.600

Device support at VerizonWireless.com says that an upgrade from 2.4.330 to 4.5.600 is available for my phone. It gives a PDF fiel of instructions on how to download the update at https://support.vzw.com/pdf/system_update/droid_2_global_instructions.pdf

When I try to download the update the system tells me my phone is up to date on 2.4.330. I called customer support, and they say the download was available but were unable to help in getting it downloaded to my phone. Has anyone else been sucessful in getting this system update?

Sounds like there will be a soak test starting this week.

Does this also apply to the original Droid 2 considering it was released 3 months prior to the Global?

There has not been any official announcement for the Droid2 yet. Just the global device. As soon as we know we'll let our customers know as well.

This particular update DOES NOT apply to the the Droid 2 (original) or the Droid R2D2 phones.

I'm not able to get my system update either and was hoping this would help with my 3G problems (doesn't work in areas where the map indicates it should).

If anyone has a fix for getting the update downloaded, I would appreciate the info.

Thanks!

It is in a soak test this week. Not available to all.

The update hasn't been deployed yet. There is supposed to be a limited "soak test" deployed to people who signed up to be testers on Motorola's support forums but that hasn't started yet.

Thanks for the posts.  The software updates are pushed out randomly in batches to users.  It usually takes about 2-3 weeks for all the users to get the update.

Thank you.

Motorola has not released the update.  Verizon is lying.

It doesnt seem like anyone is getting it. My boyfriend has the droid x and when they released gingerbread for his phone he got it right away and had no problems. Why is it so difficult for the droid 2 global????

As other posts said, Motorola has confirmed that gingerbread has not been released for this phone, which is why no-one is getting it yet!

Also, the soak test that is needed before general release  hasn't started yet, so unless you are a tester, don't bother checking for an update for at least a few days.
