I hope I am not duplilcating, I read through a lot of posts, but did not see this one.
We have a Droid X, Droid 2, Samsung Continuum... we have been having connection issues in our area and I have been working with tech support try to fix them. (different answers from each tech as to why.. old Alltel towers, New LTE network Update..lol who knows).
One tech (of several) had me do a *228 option 2 to all of our phones.
I did this on the Droid X and the Continuum and it worked just fine.... The droid 2 starts the down load.. please wait please wait and then BOOM.. it makes a beeping noise and turns off and then you have to turn it back on. NONE of the techs I have talked to know or if they know will not give me an answer as to why this happens.
The Droid X is the ONLY ONE with the most current updade.. the other 2 I have not upgraded yet.
Is this the problem in the Droid 2 as to why it shuts down doing *228? If so, why not the Continuum?
NONE of these phones have any APPS downloaded on them other than what came on them when I bought them. Don't really run APPS on any of them to be honest.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

My droid 2 global does the same thing. I am on my 4th replacement (refurbished). Tech support tells me it's not a common issue with this phone. I have invested many hours on the phone but it has never fixed the problem. I have three months left on warranty and vz wants me to upgrade. Ya right. Fix my warrantied phone problem.!!!

Yesterday, I took the Droid 2 to the Verizon store in Lynchburg, VA... showed it to one of the sales reps there (mainly, so I would have back up), and he got a person (i guess a tech) to look at it. He went through and looked at a couple things, tested it himself and then told me that I needed to just wait for Tech support to call me back. LOL

That's very frustrating to have a frozen device I would be glad to look into this issue right away. Was there any liquid or physical damage to the device? Please remove the battery and retest. It is not a known issue with the device. Do you have the device backed up with your Gmail? If so please hard reset the device and retest. If you still experience this issue I would be glad to further troubleshoot with you please send me a PM.
Thank you
