DroidX2 stuck in safe mode. Way to retrieve TXT/SMS messages?

Droid X2 is stuck in safe mode for weeks and countless power resets.

Tried wiping the data cache.

Tried uninstalling many APPS.

Hooked up the AndroidDebugBridge but do not see any files / folders containing txt messages.

SMS backup and restore is installed but of course will not run - because the phone is in safe mode.

Help?

Hello rjt69, Let's bring your phone back to life! Did the phone just randomly enter Safe Mode? Are you avoiding a hard reset because you are trying to back up your messages first? Had you previously backed uip the Messages using the app?

Phone went into safe mode a month or longer ago and has stayed in safe mode through every reboot.

Yes, i am trying to avoid a hard reset in order to save txt messages.

Yes, i had used SMS Backup and Restore on prior occasions.

The phone works better in SafeMode as a phone. It would be nice if there was an app that forces the phone into safe mode when you want to be in safe mode.

The menu button does not work which makes me think it is a hardware problem. Without a menu button, many things do not work like my task lists.

Is there some way to get my txt messages back?
