Dumb Question - how do I answer the phone when it rings?

I keep my Droid X in a pocket of my cargo shorts with the screen locked (by briefly pressing the hardware button on top of the phone before I put it in my pocket).

I don't get many calls, but of the ones I have received (except one), when I pull the phone out of my pocket while the phone is ringing and look at the screen, there are are two icons.  One is a green phone and the other is a red icon (I think it is a phone also, as I recall).  Touching either of those icons does not answer the phone - it just keeps ringing until it goes to voice mail.

Now, one time when it rang the screen contained icons for "Answer" and another icon that I, if I recall correctly, was for "Ignore". So I was able to answer.   But that was just once. The other times the phone has rung, the screen contains what I described above and I can't answer the call.

I suspect that when I pull the phone out of my pocket I am touching something on the screen that puts it in a different mode so it does not show the "Answer" icon.

Any thoughts on how to work around this and be able to answer the phone?

To answer swipe your finger on the green bar and keep going towards the right.  To ignore, swipe your finger on the red bard and keep going to the left.

Thanks, I just tested it by call from my land line, and swiping the green icon worked.  I had been only touching it.

Problem solved.  Thanks.

I did the same thing at first.

For me, it's a matter of going from a BB world with buttons to a touch screen.  :smileyvery-happy:  Little differences to get used to here and there.  I'm very happy with the switch and am finding more and more things I love about the Droid X every day.

You might find some additional info regarding your "X" in this user guide that I have attached. (You can print this one as opposed to the one in your phone)

The info regarding answering calls is on page 11.  Of course you already have this info.

The time it  had answer and ignore means the screen was unlocked at the time you received the call. When texting I always leave the screen unlocked so I don't have to keep unlocking it when it times out.
