I have taken pictures with my phone and have renamed them and now I have duplicates shown on my gallery. I have also deleted pictures but they still show up with the delete option grayed out. I am wondering how I could permanently remove these from my phone.

i suggest that you mount the SD to your computer and scan the duplicates from there... basically, I'm facing the same dilemma regarding duplicates and had enough. I'd like to suggest the tool that works for me, its called "Duplicate Files Deleter" and uses md5 searching which is effective.. I've been using it for awhile to hunt down and delete those duplicates, hope it helps...
