Question: I was one of the many that got an original Moto Droid. That was back in November. Now I want the Droid X. It's 200 w/a 2 yr contract. But I'm only 8 mos into my first contract. Is there anyway I can get that phone for the reduced price? I don't mind signing up for another 2 yrs..
So can I get the phone for 200 even though I'm on contract right now...willing to sign up for more time?
Thanks.

What type of plan do you have? If you're on a single line plan or the primary line on a family plan of $49.99 or more (not including data), you're eligible for an annual upgrade at the 1 yr mark. You can also do an alternate upgrade if another line on a family plan is eligible. Otherwise, you'll likely have to pay full retail or buy it from someone else.

if i were you, i'd hold off until around x mas time. likely the ever elusive shadow will be released with better features/hardware and you'll be within your 1 year upgrade.

I recently upgraded to an Ally from an LG Dare and I did this with a contract that was less than a year old. I didn't get any discounts but I did get the 2-year contract price, didn't have to pay full retail for the Ally or anything like that. I think as long as you're willing to get locked in for two more years they'll let you upgrade. The only point to waiting longer into your contract is that you start to build up the "new every two" discounts. Otherwise you'll just pay as much for the phone as anyone who walks in off the street and agrees to a new 2 year contract. But you should be able to.

Yes, the Droid X is the Shadow. However, the killer devices that Verizon may have coming out in the 4th qtr may be LTE. But even if there aren't any 4G phones coming, I'm sure there will be some awesome phones around Christmas time.
Good Luck,

I doubt that LTE phones will be out in 4Q. The LTE rollout is starting soon in major cities. A larger rollout of metroplitan areas by late this year early next year. The first LTE devices will be usb modems then smartphones then feature phones. The end of this year may be the first LTE smartphones but definitely by early next year from what I am getting so far. By spring/Summer next year it will be insane what kind of Smartphones we will be looking at. Insane.
Motorola has already said that they will have 2Ghz phones by the end of this year. Not far fetched because the Cortex A9 processing cores have already been run at 2Ghz and they are capable of up to quad core configurations. Good stuff.

Yeah in that article he makes it sound like those are outrageous claims. As I pointed out in my comment the only thing Jha mentions that isn't currently available to my knowledge is the HD screen. And since the iPhone has a 960 x 640 resolution screen I have no fear that a 1280 X 720 is just around the corner especially in a 5" screen though I don't know that I would want a 5" screen phone. 4" may be too big but from what I can tell if you make it like the X I might could swing that. I am starting to scare myself, all of this makes me about want to wait until my NE2 comes up so I can get whatever monster device will be out Next November probably by then with LTE support or at least the capability to support it. Hmm. I'm drooling.
