Email Locking issue on my HTC Incredible

My email account has been locked up to do my phone locked in refresh, and I need help on what to do?  I already looked at the manual and couldn't find anything for troubleshooting my email.  I powered down and pulled the battery, and still nothing.  Went to log into my email on my computer and it won't be updated because of my phone being locked in connecting.  I don't know what happened, but the only way to access my email now is via the web, please help!

You can try deleting the account from the app and adding the account back in again.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I have provided some steps below that may help with your email issue.

***Please note that you may need to log back into the email account was data is cleared.

Step 1 – Try clearing the cache and data for the email account. (Instructions below)

-Select Menu

-Select Settings

-Select Applications

-Select Manage Applications

-Select All

-Select Mail (or Gmail…whatever account needs a reset)

-Clear cache (if applicable)

-Clear data

Step 2 – If step 1 did not work, try it in Safe mode. Safe mode is a method that allows the device to run without non-essential applications. This is beneficial for troubleshooting 3rd party applications.

*If it works in safe mode, you may have a application that is not native to the device causing an issue.

Step 3 – Try Ann154 suggestion and delete the email account and re-add it. To remove the account I have provided an instructional link below:

*** Please note the original Gmail account cannot be removed unless a hard reset is completed on the device.

Casonia,

I believe clearing the cache and data this way does not remove the files from the system found in:  data>data>com.htc.android.mail>app_mail_temp

So when the phone completely fills with data in this folder the phone will become useless.  It also seems that the data problem comes from accounts that use POP3.

Can you confirm or refute this?

Thank you for your help!  I am desparate as many Incredible users are....
