Email help

I'm receiving email only rarely. I've set it to push. Data is set to sync unrestricted. I've sent email from one of my accounts to another, but only one or two come through. When I check the "sent"box or "out" box, the mail I sent is not showing up. I've tried to manually"push" and refresh but the mail is still not delivered. Any ideas?

Have you checked your settings? If your server address is wrong (typo?) or ports wrong you will not be able to send/receive Email. Check with your email providers to get the correct addresses/port numbers.

Which email app are you using?  Is it the stock app, gmail, etc?

Checked all the settings and ports.  No apparent problems there and no typos. "Push" is set.  Data sync is unrestricted.  I was able to get all my emails pushed on my previous X.

Don't laugh, but I still have a couple of AOL emails, and I'm using the stock email app.

Sometimes, the emails come right through.  Sometimes, they seem to disappear into cyberspace...not even a copy in the "Sent" or "Outbox".  Sometimes, if I send from my GMail to both of my AOL in one email, one will come through immediately but not the other.  Then, sometimes, a whole batch of email will come through at one time.  Mail to my GMail account comes through immediately most times, but there have been times when they come through hours later, if at all.

I'm beginning to wonder if I have some sort of odd electromagnetic field around me that won't allow me to use the Droid X flawlessly.

That is pretty strange for there not to be a record of the emails at all.  Try sending a test email and immediately check to see if it makes it to your outbox.  If they aren't making it to the outbox you could have all the server settings in the world and it won't help.

Another trick I learned long ago in the cellphone programing world is to always retype the settings whenever you check them.  I have had times where an unnoticed space at the beginning of settings has caused hours of headaches.  Don't know if it will help you but it's worth a try.

One thing that helped me when my Email accounts messed up and that is to delete them and re-install them. That helped me. You might want to try that. Someone posted  a chart listing all the POP3/SMTP settings. You might want to find it and check it out. It's a chart that they should put right in front since it has helped me and several other out tremendously.

This is the site that lists all the Email info you will need. Like I said, they should glue this one right on top.

Wow Mort!  Thanks for the work you've done to help me.  I've never had to change the port, because when I added the AOL accounts, the ports were automatically entered.  However, the list  you sent listed another port for the servers.  I've changed my accounts to these new ports.  Since the email problem I'm having is intermittent, I'll have to wait to see if this is going to be the permanent fix.  (The first two test emails I sent were received within 2 minutes.)

There are some helpful folks on here!  Thanks y'all!

Glad to help. I'm just returning the help that others have given me, like Wildman, Ann154 and several others. Enjoy!

Well, email is coming through.  Not really "pushed" all the time, mostly "gently prodded".  My work e-mail comes in either before it hits my computer, or up to four hours later.  Pretty much the same with my personal e-mails.  I was really thankful today when my boss (a die-hard iPhone phan) wanted to test how quickly we received our work e-mail, and it pushed.  A coworker sent an email to both of us, and I received mine about a second after his iPhone did.  He was impressed.  Maybe it will get better, maybe not.  But I'll deal with it.  Now, I'm feeling more comfortable about getting into all this phone has to offer.

I've messaged an employee about getting a FAQ started and stickied, but no response to date.  Maybe I'll shoot a message to those who manage the BotB list.

Ah! Thanks mortb. 😄

@crb79
Congrats on getting BoTB this week.

As for the email topic, I thankfully never had any real problems setting up my email addresses (hotmail & msn). Although there was one quirky issue with the msn account. I had to set it to receive all emails because anything else would load only the oldest emails like from 2006 or so. I eventually deleted the msn account from the phone since it wasn't a very active email address.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
