Email not syncing

Emails from multiple accounts (Yahoo, Gmail and Frontier) stay in outbox for hours, both on 1-29, and today,( 1-31). Also email not being synced to my Droid x, even though I have it set to "fetch" every 15 minutes if  "push" not working. Any suggestions?  Is this a problem with my device or a system problem with Verizon or something else?

This is inevitably going to be suggested, so I might as well  get it out of the way:

Do a battery pull.  Take the battery out for a few minutes and see if that helps.

Every now and then the 3G in my area for no apparant reason loses data, but it's never been for hours.  Not saying that it couldn't be the network, but try the battery pull for now.

When it is not syncing, do OTHER internet services work? Like your WEB BROWSER - are you able to access a web site or does it just hang as well. If other internet functions are working when not syncing, it doesn't appear that it is a 3G issue. If the problems exist there as well, just try toggling in and out of AIRPLANE mode. (I have a widget on my screen to do this from time to time - but rarely do it.)

Other internet services work. Browser works. So does the widget that checks for social media (Facebook in my case), although on Saturday that didn't work to sync authomatically, but if I use the Facebook app I have, it would update my Facebook page. The email works if I go to the individual accounts and refresh the page. What it doesn't do right now is push messages out without my checking for them, and the "fetch" setting doesn't work either. And in my Yahoo mail account, messages remain in the outbox. I've had one in there for four hours, unsent.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try the airplane toggle, although I've not using wi-fi right now, and haven't been using it today at all.

Other than the battery pull suggestion, you COULD try clearing the CACHE in the email app(s) ..   Go into Settings, Applications, Manage Applications - scroll down to the email APP you're using and click on Clear Cache ...  stranger things have been fixed by doing that.  Good luck.

I tried both the battery pull and turning the airplane mode on and then off. After that the synching of emails began again (and the emails that had been in my outbox for five hours were sent). Since I did both things, I don't know which one did the trick. Next time it happens (which I hope is a long time), I'll try them one at a time.

Thanks for the help.
