Email will not load

I have had this phone for several months now and had issues having to take the battery out to reset to get my email accounts to load where I can read them. As of today I can't get it to read any email account. It switches right back to the message screen showing my accounts. I have checked updates, says my phones updated. I have *228 pressed 1 and 2 turned off phone and back on still no go. What next? Please don't say hard reset and I'll lose everything... Thanks Dave

I understand the need to be able to have email syncing correctly on your device.  I would like to make a couple of suggestions.

 

I would first check the email settings on the device.  Make sure the server information, username and passwords are all correct.  They may have changed on your email server, but not on your phone.  If that doesn't resolve the issue, I would then remove and re-add the email account.  I have included a link how to remove a personal POP/IMAP email account off of the Motorola Droid 2 A955:
