I just purchased the extended life battery. Does anyone know what kind of improvement it will make?
At ~300 mAh over stock, you aren't going to see a huge jump. It will probably buy you an extra hour or so of normal to heavy use, and half a day of standbye. If you are just barely making it through a day, it will help with that. Given the size difference (new door even) and some anecdotal tales of heat issues, I'm probably going to just pick up a spare standard battery and swap. Coming from iPhone where dead means dead without a charger, it's completely amazing to be able to do that!
When you get your battery, please post your experience. I'd like to know actual usage difference, not just probable based on capacity.

Could you please tell us how the larger battery and new back case affects the size of the Droid X? Is the entire back of the phone now the same width/depth of the wider/deeper section devoted to the camera end?

It will now last 14% longer, and yes it does fit into the original case. The 3000mAh battery on the other hand will not fix with the factory back panel, and will most likely make your phone look like in in its final trimester.
I would like to purchase extened battery w/cover also. Does anyone know if it will fit into the leather snap-on case with kickstand. I can fit the current phone with original battery into the leather snap-on case and together it all fits into custom leather belt-clip case. However, I wanted to be sure the new extended battery & new cover could also fit into the kickstand leather case.
