Fed up with the gingerbread update

I am so fed up with the forced update of my Droid X to the gingerbread version.  I can't stand the colors, the way it functions, the amount I have to power cycle just so it will work correctly.  The ONLY thing I like better is that it unlocks quicker.  Every picture I take, whether it be in a well light area or dark lighting, they turn out horrible.  I notice I lose my 3G a good amount of times.  I would not have bought this phone if it was this way to begin with.  How can Verizon do this kind of thing to it's customers?  Most of my apps work ok, but I find numerous times that I have to power cycle because it's just not downloading the data it needs.  I would ask for a replacement in thinking maybe something just got screwed up with my hardware, but I've been through that game before with the crappy refurbished phones.  I would love to go back to froyo.  Yes...I know I can download messaging apps and the like to customize the look, but I shouldn't have to do that.

I noticed my pictures were grainy after the update so I went in and checked my settings, oddly enough it had been switch from Auto or middle ISO to one side.  Once I switched things back to Auto the pictures were crystal clear again.

As for wanting Froyo back, if you really want to you can read other forums to learn how to accomplish that.

How is this a forced update? I had to physically go into Phone Info and search for the update, and then manually download it...?

Where is this option?  I don't see ISO settings anywhere in the camera menu.

I'm sorry, they don't have ISO setting in the camera anymore, adjust Exposure.  Start off at 0, this should be the standard setting, then try 1 or -1 and see if it's less grainy.

Hello kevr82,

I can suggest some things to assist with the camera, 3G and having to reboot.  The colors and functions, however, would remain. Hopefully some of the camera setting changes others have suggested has assisted you already.  If not, I would suggest doing a factory reset on the device to address the camera and the other opportunities as well.  You can do this reset by navigating to Settings>Privacy>Factory Data Reset>Reset Phone>and Erase Everything.  This will erase everything on your device so if desired please back up your information before the reset.  Please let me know if this assist you.  Thank you.

Have you tried clearing thecache and  data from Settings / Applications / Manage Applications / All Tab / Media Storage or Settings / Applications / Manage Applications / All Tab / Camera to clear all data for camera and see if this helps....  Keep in mind that this clears any custom ringer settings and they have to be reset after completing this process.

My NFL videos used to be beautiful - HD and almost 3D. Now they're awful - pixilated and looks like watching HD on an non-HD tv.

Any way this can be corrected?

Also, since update, my MLB audio is awful - breaks up, hear every 3rd word, or buffers for 10 minutes every 15 minutes. What's up? Any ideas on how to get it back to the Droid X that I loved?????

(got in touch with NFL and MLB - of course they said it wasn't them, they haven't updated anything. Got in touch with Verizon and she had no clue. told me to go into a store and ask!!!)

Is it the same quality over WiFi ?  If it improves more to your liking over WiFi, I would venture to suggest that you just have a poor OTA signal.  The quality of NFL when I "tested" it last year is the reason I did not sign up for it. I was getting horrific choppiness and quality as you mentioned.

Also since that would be copyrighted videos and doesnt play through the default player I am assuming you are using RealHDMI and with the recent update this could be causing incompatibility issues until the developer updates app..

Does the video play choppy on the device or only when using the HDMI?
