And no mention of the ringer volume....Grrr....

As they said in the look-out tower..."We shall see...".

I'll acknowledge this as "official" when it comes from Verizon or Motorola.  I read a post somewhere today that said the Droid X was bypassing Froyo and going directly to Gingerbread, but I don't take that as an official statement either.

Verizon support  has "Officially" posted the 2.2 update pdf. So you can either wait for the push, or check manually at will.

The link you posted for has been out there for about a week. Verizon is just preparing for whenever the update is released.

Re: Droid X Froyo veiled in Moto Secrecy

Well, I tried again to call VZW..this time I got Houston and I directly asked for a Supervisor this time.  His name is Bilal and he was quite helpful.  The official news - YES, the update has been released.  Ready for the other side of the coin?    wait for it....wait for it......  The sucky side of all this is that because of the number of updates that have to be done, they are being batched in groups.  According to Bilal, the last time this was done, it was performed alphabetically.  So depending on how large the groupings are and what you're last name starts with, you could be seeing the message to update on your phone very soon.  As for me, I'm totally frakked because my last name starts with a "V", so even Bilal (in confidence) confessed to me that it will probably be about another 2 weeks before I realistically see that update message.

So Motorizon made the deadline alright...They just got slick and spaced out the delivery.  God help us if during the delivery, some horrible bugs come out and then the pull and further 'pushes' of the update.  (I hope I didn't jinx us all by saying that out loud *LOL*.)  It would be so typical for a corp. to do that though.

That's the news as I've received it.  Can anyone else get confirmation from any VZW people they've talked to?  Even better, has anyone yet actually gotten the upgrade *LOL*?

Yay my surname starts with a "B".

Huzzah!

After doing some digging around, it seems the updates will be going out tomorrow starting at 12pm EST, so no rollouts. Just start checking around that time and you should have it.

Someone also mentioned that because we are in EDT as opposed to EST, it will start around 11am and not 12. Was wondering why my X was showing GMT -4:00.

For those that don't get over to the moto forum, the moto forum mngr., Matt, who is a moto employee, posted this in his (moto's) locked thread a little over an hr. ago.

I guess this makes it about as official as it can be:

Sep 21, 2010 4:56 PM in response to: Matt (Forums Manager) Re: Follow this thread for news about Android 2.2 for Droid X

To confirm what has already been widely circulated, Android 2.2 (Froyo) for Droid X will begin to be pushed to Droid X owners tomorrow, Sept. 22.

When the push begins, we will also post more extensive release notes that contain additional information about features and fixes in the upgrade.
