I think I'll wait for the official release. Don't wanna risk downloading something that isn't an official release. But I'm sure there are plenty of people who are willing to do it. :smileyhappy:

Good choice!  If something were to go wrong and you updated in another way then that could very well void warranty. Then you'd be out of luck. Better to be safe then sorry

I'm waiting for the official release too.  I've waited this long, what's another couple weeks.  Maybe 1 or 2 more bugs will get zapped while we're waiting.

Yep...I am with you guys.  I am going to wait.  Who knows what is actually in this "leaked" thing now floating around...or maybe what is not in it.

That sounds like a smart ideal, I can wait because my device is working fine without it so its not a must have item, the good part is from what I read, if the final release is the same or close to the leaked version,  the main issue I want fixed was reported to be resolved (Low Sound) and I will love to see how well. Besides I am having mixed fillings on getting flash intergrated in update, flash is nice but it may slow down page rendering speed and also there may be a little time before we see it intergrated into other browsers like Dolphin..  Ill wait and see..

2.2 is now available for the Droid 1 and comes shipped on the Droid 2.  Keep in mind that the non-vzw/moto 2.2 which is not specific to Droid X will not support Flash 10.2.

If your phone stated an update was available it was likely the 604 update which is simply a bug fix from Motorola.

I heard it was supposed to drop today for DroidX. What are the steps/processes to install it?

Your phone will prompt you once an update is available.  Don't get to excited though, VZW and Motorola already said Early September.  If it comes early, GREAT, but I'll be expecting their stated time frame.

i assume they are talking about the 2.2 listed on engadget and gizmodo. which does link to a dorid X 2.2 not a final release from what i understand, but a leak in current revision (possibly leaked for beta testers) and does not require rooting. though in the host forum it doe go over what to do to keep your rooting.

I dont think im adventures enough to try this out, but its nice to know the real download is not that far out. the leaks for the droid came about a week and some change before the over the air official one.

there is also a thread on motos forums buy a guy who has updated with lists of whats changed post a question and hes been answering them

When this update is released, I would appreciate it if current users would state whether it fixes the current bugs (volume, crashes, mail, screen, etc)......Thanks

This is the original expected dates, the original post is speaking about the leaked version that was released.

Yes, my original post was about the leaked version that is available.  I wasnt sure about TOS violations in bringing it up so i was extremely vague and wanted the community to discuss further.  I have downloaded and installed the update and all indications are this is the unofficial, official OTA update that will be rolled out early Sept.  I can say, my phone is faster, WIFI connects more reliably.

And since all discussions regarding R**ting is against TOS, all i will say is that I did not have to "a part of the body of a plant that develops, typically, from the radicle and grows downward into the soil, anchoring the plant and absorbing nutriment and moisture. my phone to install the update.  It is a VZW signed update.

I still plan to restore back to 2.1 and install the OTA when it is available...just in case :smileyhappy:

You know, I can't believe that there is not either shouting of praises or howls of disappointment over the ringer volume issue. Really, there is next to no mention of it from all the folks that have installed the un-official Froyo update. And the few that have commented on it are very vague in their description of Froyo's ringer volume. Kind of odd.

Again, here's hoping...

I did notice the ringer does sound a little different.  I dropped my phone into the couch last night and was able to call it and hear the ringtone just fine.  I would say there is a definite difference, the volume sounds louder and doesn't sound as muffled when laying on my fabric furniture like before the 2.2 update.

From what I have read this is indeed a test or beta release of 2.2 that VZW released to a very limited number of handsets.

Gerio, I never had a problem with my sound, so i really do not notice a difference, but I can tell you that flash works 100% and my wifi connection is great, other than that i havent really noticed any diiference.

I heard that Froyo won't do anything with the ringer volume, but that it would be fixed in a different update.

That's just what I heard, but I don't remember from where... May have been in one of these forums.
