While I was using the navigation application (provided by google) last night, my Droid went "dark" (screen) and I had to remove the battery to restart it. When I restart it the first time, the screen appear to be normal, but lost the "touch screen" function. I had to restart the phone again (not by removing the battery but via the power button) and restore the function.
if it continues sounds like the phone has something wrong with it. You can return the phone if you just bought it. You do have a certain amount of days to try out the phone. When returning the phone you can choose to get another Droid or another new different phone.
Something similar happened to me one time, about a week ago. Hasn't happened since. In my case it wasn't related to the navigation app.
